It is not too early to start. This is the best time so that you can really look into it and see if it is for you. Talk to your school counselor and/or your college adviser.

You can visit http://www.aias.org where it is a site dedicated to students of architecture.

Also, find to find out which colleges to go to, start at http://www.naab.org where they list all the institutions in USA and Canada, and you can search by degree type and area. Next, when you talk to your parents about school cost and location, find out which colleges seem right for you. Then go to the college website to find out their requirements to get in so you can start setting your goals. You may even want to take visits to the colleges, but that can wait until later.

Good luck!

The first thing you should probably do is talk to your school counselor. They can help you figure out if there are any specific classes that your school offers that you should be taking to help you achieve your goals.

For the rest of your questions: a "major" is the program you enroll in at a college. A major outlines what classes you need to take to achieve a certain degree.

A degree is kind of like a diploma. When you complete high school you get a diploma. That diploma helps colleges and employers get a good idea of what kind of things you probably know. A degree is the diploma you get for finishing college. It helps graduate schools and employers figure out what kind of things you probably know.

So, if when you get to college you still want to be an architect you will want to major in architecture. I don't know what schools have good architecture programs, but that's another thing that your school counselor could help you look into.

I hope this helps.

Start by going online to the University of California at Berkeley. It's the best school for architecture in North America. Have your dad order the catalog for this next school year, and read about the requirements for a degree in architecture. Read about the classes they offer. Seriously consider getting a master's in architecture, so you have the best control of your career.

While you are in high school, take all of your math classes. If you can finish calculus while there, it will get you ahead of the others in college who have to take all their math there. So you will be free to take other classes of your own choice.

Talk to the transfer counselor, and the academic counselor at UCBerkeley. They will give you all kinds of correct advice about how to "prepare" to go to UCB. You will want to get the best grades you can get so you can earn scholarships. Student loans will help, too. You will be able to pay them off when you get a good job after graduation.
