I own a Nikon coolpix S5. I am planning on going on a scuba dive with it next week. The waterproof case claims that it goes up to 10 feet. I am planning on going 30ft. Should I be worried that the camera will not work once back on land? Is there a high possibility that the case will leak?
What camera would you recommend to go scuba diving that is under 150 dollars?

I own a waterproof case myself and I can see trying to go to 12-15feet but to 30, don't try it. The case is most likely to break due to the increase pressure. I've gone scuba diving and you don't feel the change in pressure but your camera will. When I was browsing BHphoto I found this one for you

You can find disposable 35 mm cameras that are rated down to 30 feet. Seems like it would be a shame to ruin your camera when you can just get a disposable to do the job.

I saw a 35 mm camera at Walmart w/ housing that was rated down to 100 feet or so, and from what I remember, the price was under $150.

It could work, it could not, its just that the manufacturer's testing only shows complete water blockage up to ten feet. it may come out damp and functional at deeper depths, but the manufacturer holds no liability for camera damage at deeper distances. I would recommend testing that yourself before going diving, in a pool or such as deep as you can find, and test it out at various depths.

Seems like a nice camera to throw away... unless you're saying you are ready for an upgrade. But for under 150, I think you'll need to go with a 35mm camera.

the seals wont handle the pressure and you will be asking if the memory card is still ok next week
