apparently he liked to drink, and was only briefly married, which some might take to mean he was gay, but is hardly definitive proof. but there's an unspoken assumption that these things are bad - why? as for being a slave of the west, how so? he made turkey a modern secular state in the western model, which is not quite the same thing as slavery! consider who wrote this 'history' and what they might want you to conclude from it.
