Do you know what symbolism is? What do you think original sin refers to? A tree, a Snake, forbidden fruit I think it's pretty clear what the story is really talking about.

The lie that the Devil told Eve worked just as he had planned. The Bible says: “Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it.” (Genesis 3:6) Eve believed Satan and disobeyed God. She was able to get Adam to break God’s law too. The Devil thus succeeded in setting the first human couple on a course of rebellion against God.

Adam did not eat of the Tree of Life. He ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You need to look at what preceded the scriptures you quote.
To say that he ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is a metaphor. There may have been a real tree also, but the meaning of this scripture is that Satan convinced Eve and then Eve convinced Adam that they didn't have to follow God's commandments.
Satan convinced Eve that God did not love them and that His commandment was meant to keep humans from becoming like God. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is the idea that we don't have to follow God's commandments; that we can decide what is good and what is evil on our own.
The fruit of something is the result of doing something. Eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil is both acting on the idea that we don't have to obey the commandments of God and receiving the consequences of doing that. The consequences are separation from the Presence of God (being cast out of Eden) and if continued, complete separation from God in hell.
Satan is still telling the same lies: God does not love us, obeying His commandments in the Bible will keep us from enjoying life, there is no hell, and we are God.

Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They were expelled from the Garden of Eden as punishment, and to make sure they DIDN'T eat the fruit of the tree of life.
The Bible is not specific what the fruit itself was - perhaps it was the only tree created to bear that particular fruit, and that fruit has never again been seen by man.

He didn't eat the fruit of the tree of life!
He ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
An angel was then sent to make sure that he DIDN'T eat of the tree of life.

No. He ate the first fruit of the liar's lie, and the nakedness was the fruit of shame and guilt, as the mortal realized false belief was upon him, which hid him from God.

I don't think it's that literal. I believe it's a representation of how people yearned for wisdom, looked for it, and finally obtaining it. The Bible is full of epiphany and symbolism, that if you interpret it literally and failed to understand what it truly implies, then you might get lost.
