I just caught my dog eating her own feces and I pretty sure she can get sick from that. She's a puppy, but my other dogs didn't do that.

Yes, but not from eating her own feces unless it is more then a week old. It is a normal but disgusting (to humans) habit that is a survival instinct (there is about 10% food value in dog stools). Eating another dogs feces could spread some intestinal parasites if that dog is infected.

It won't make her sick however when a dog eats his or her own feces it is because they are missing nutrients so do as one of the other readers suggested and find a better food. Nature's Recipe is an excellent food.. but whatever food you choose look for one with meat as it's first ingredient and NO corn or wheat glutton.

It's possible because it is bodily waste with bacteria. Like you know how people get ecoli from feces somehow getting into there mouth, same idea. But it is unlikey for it to get sick. Dogs have pretty strong immune systems, but I wouldn't automatically cancel out the possiblity of a dog getting sick from it.

i see the word SHE there. as far as i have been told, female dogs do eat poo. don't worry, she is only getting nutrients from it, i don't think it can hurt her that much as long as she is having her jabs because dogs have a stomach of steel. my female dog eats horse poo. though, i am not sure whether this is the same, just try and stop her by cleaning it up straight away or saying 'no' and pull her away.

My brothers dogs do that, he feeds them Ol Roy, my God that's one of the worst but he doesn't want to hear about it. Are you feeding it some cheap commercial brand? I gotta wonder anymore on this subject if it's just the dogs food lacking in anything beneficial, regardless what the lying label says is in it.
What brand is it eating?

They do that unfortunately. It doesn't mean it's good for her but it won't make her sick. Make sure she has enough food available and have her checked for worms. The worms makes them feel extra hungry so they might resort to eating gross things.

if she eats her feces trust me she will become sick because all the bacteria in the feces will go to the stomach and eat the stomach and it will evensualy dieeeee!
