Pushing a policeman is an assault if forceful and it can be a valid reason to arrest the one who pushed him.

What kind of question is this anyway? I hope it's not a serious one and I hope you're not thinking of pushing an officer. I'm sure the officer would get a kick out of either tasing you or slamming you to the ground, perhaps both.

I little common sense every once in a while would be nice.

This is what happens: You push me, I grab your arm, execute a hip throw, stuffing you into the asphalt. My left knee pins your upper shoulder while my right knee compresses your kidney, squeezing air out of you. Your arm will be pulled up to your opposite shoulder blade and that wrist will be 'cuffed. The 'cuff will be pulled tight, causing pain, while I grab the other wrist, pull it to the 'cuffed one and handcuff it. I then jerk you to your feet, tell you that you are under arrest for Battery on a Police Officer, and chicken walk you to my patrol car and stuff you into the back seat. You then get a free ride downtown.

Yes its a felony in all 50 states and every country in existence. npot only will you be arrested, beaten and dragged to the jail. but you will never be able to hunt. own a gun, or even vote because you are a convicted felon. so go ahead, find a random officer and push him. tell him i said so. he will probly enjoy the felony arrest

Yes. In New Mexico, it is considered Battery Upon a Peace Officer, and is a 4th Degree Felony. Not a good idea, and almost certainly not justified.

I know they're not all bad, but are you aware a man was SHOT 41 times for reaching for his wallet? Who knows what would have happened if the man had pushed one of the officers.

Yes and it's possible that it's a felony charge for assault on a police officer.

You can get convicted of assault just by BLOWING on him (yes, that actually happened once when a motorist who had just eaten a lot of garlic got pulled over and tried to give the cop a hard time that way.)
