What is the proper terminology for someone who believes in god but not christ? I do not need or want any smart *** remarks, I just do not know what the proper term is.

depends on many other factors... but in basic terms one who believes in a personal god is a "theist", though that is a broad term covering many mono-theistic religions. if you believe in a divine creator, but not a personal god (i.e. a singular entity with thoughts and feelings) then you would be classified as a "deist"

Excuse me but I cannot believe the ignorance I see among those that have answered you. There are hundreds of religions that believe in some god or gods, and to whom Christ has no significance. They are called simply, people of other beliefs.

That someone would actually such a person a hypocrite speaks for the illiteracy and embarassing stupidity among a certain dangerous group of Christians.

I was raised under Christ, but left the fold because so many of the sheep were just this arrogant and stupid.

Good luck with acting like Christ if you are basically venal and contemptuous of other people.

I personally believe in the goodness of Christ's teachings, but think that theistic religion is a pile of hokum.

Spiritual. Spiritual quest doesn't need Religions or Prophets. God is eternal truth. "Truth is a pathless land" proclaimed Philosopher J.Krishnamurti. Be a Free thinker to unfold awareness. Believing or not believing a Prophet, a Sage or a Saviour does not alter the fact.

First of all
to MATT , your ignorance is showing! ! ! JW's and Mormons both believe in Jesus,

To answer the question, I guess you would just call them Theist. You didn't specify which God they would believe in. God is a title, not a name. I personally believe in the god that the Bible calls the Almighty. whose name is Jehovah and I also believe in his son, Jesus.

Psalm 83:18 (King James Version)
18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

John 17:3 (NWT)
3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. 4 I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work you have given me to do. 5 So now you, Father, glorify me alongside yourself with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was.

I think that would be a Deist - belief in a deity.

If you mean someone who believe in God the Father but not Jesus as God, that sounds like a Jew, assuming they were born "of Abraham's seed".

jehovah witness or mormon

sixfoothigh-

you forgot verse 5 in John 17.

And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:5

Jesus is God! And God in flesh. I know you doubt this but check out what Scripture says about not acknowledging Jesus as God in flesh.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 7

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

Why don't you read Phil. 2:5-8, Gal. 4:4-5, Col. 2:9, Heb. 2:9, John 10:30, 1 John 5:7

You've shown you don't know the truth.

One of the names of God is Jehovah but he has MANY names. Lord, Jesus, Yeshua, Savior, Lamb, Adoni, I AM

jw's believe jesus was a created angel and mormans believe jesus was the brother of the devil that would imply he was an angel. Scripture says otherwise.

For to which of the angels did He ever say: “ You are My Son. Heb. 1:5

Do yourself a favor and quit reading your watchtower books and magazines and only read the Bible not the nwt or neutered satanic translation. Your books and magazines are an addition to Scripture. As a jw your a false prophet and so it the watchtower organization!

And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. Jer. 14:14

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Matt. 7:15-16

Beware of the scribes. Luke 20:46

You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deut. 4:2

Just use Scripture from an APPROVED translation.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

How is it possible that so many said "Jews and/ or Muslims" ???

Do xtians really think that 'we're all the same but they just don't believe in jesus'?

That level of ignorance is insulting, especially since so many christians like to tell us we're wrong. How do they know we're wrong if they don't know what we are???? Also insulting to every other group which has a non-jesus belief in a god!

BTW,Believing in the god of Israel but not jesus does NOT make you a Jew!
