Am I the only one who despite medical proof, gets the distinct impression that both these drugs are near useless?

Everytime I take them I feel like I'm spitting on a forest fire.

when you have started relieving your pain through strong medicines, weak medicines wont work for you. paracetamol/acetaminophen is more likely used as an antipyretic. ibuprofen like advil is ussually taken for pain like headache and dysmenorrhea. if the two didn't work for you, try mefenamic acid. but be sure you have full stomach. switch to naproxen or diclofenac if mefenamic acid is still useless.

What kind of pain are you taking them for?
I personally have no luck with Tylenol either, but Ibuprofen works for me, and so does aspirin, unless it is a severe pain.
Tylenol works well on my husband and kids.
They do work on fever [ Tylenol ] and inflammation [ ibuprofen ], even if not strong enough for your pain.

Ibuprofen is not useless but if it doesn't work for you then you need to use something else. Tylenol is ok for those who can't take the NSAID drugs like ibuprofen or naproxen.

Not only are they pretty useless, but over time they can cause significant damage to your kidneys and liver that are irreversible. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen taken over long periods kill the cells in both organs causing permanent damage. If you suffer from chronic pain and you have taken OTC pain medication you should seek a pain management doctor in your area that can assist you in other treatment and medications that are less harmful on your organs.
Hope this helps, good luck;o)

I don't know the specifics about Ibuprofen, but I KNOW that acetaminophen is extremely damaging to your liver! If you must, just take aspirin, drink a cup of coffee or tea, take a bath, or take a nap!

If my pain is so minor that it can be cured by Tylenol, Aspirin, or Naproxen. I just go without. Anything more painful that these cannot control, you go to a Dr and get the real thing.

Well, I wouldn't say they are useless, but I don't use them. I like to keep everything I do as natural as possible. But then again, I don't have any big problems with pain either, and if I do, I go to the doctor and get some real pain killers.

They work for me. Your body must just be immune to them. That's what happens to me if I take loratae for more than 4 days in a row. it then becomes utterly useless to my problem.

I think your body has already accommodated with them and they have no result on you now.
You should try something else !
