you don't put salt in tequila, but you can have salt with tequila. It helps with the flavor. Really helps you to drink a shot easier. I used to use it, but now I am used to the taste. lol.

it doesn't make it stronger and u don't put it in the drink. u put the salt on ur hand (by ur thumb cause its facin towards u and easier to lick) and then u lick the salt off, take a shot and then bit into a lemon or lime. the whole point of it is to add flavor and bring out the taste but, its also lightens up the taste so its not as hard (but, its still pretty strong). tequila on its own is really strong and bold taste. i personally luv tequila and the salt and lime/lemon makes it better and funnier....... :p
try it if u haven't already and do it wit friends. it always fuunier to take shot wit friends.

It is for flavor, but I wouldn't say you take salt with it to make the tequila more tolerable. Its one of those things that adds to the whole picture. If you take a look at a lot of Mexican snacks or candies, salt, chile, and lime is a staple flavor combo. There's the fresh fruit on a stick with chile, lime, and salt. They even have hard candy lollipops (mango, watermelon, and even corn flavored). People do the same with corona, because it tastes good.

You don't need to use salt or lime. Ditch the bargain basement tequila and get yourself some of the good stuff, like Herradura or El Tesoro. It's 100% agave (not a 51% mix like the bottom shelf stuff) and goes down smooth. A nice anejo is perfect for sipping with friends.

U don't put salt in tequila. I have it to make the taste of tequila less potent!

It makes it taste better. :)
The salt when put on your tongue directly makes you so intensely thirsty... that anything wet will taste better... including tequila. That stuff can kill you but... it makes an interesting evening. And tequila with lime and salt.... the best! :)
Lick, drink, suck!

The only way to make it "stronger" would be to add grain alcohol to it. The salt is for flavor only.
