It was not an apple. Most likely it was a fig because as soon as they ate it and realized they were naked they made clothing from fig leaves. If it had happened in front of an apple tree, they would have used apple leaves. And the same for all other fruit.

I once heard it was quinces! I love quinces (cooked), they do taste like paradise, but cannot imagine anyone eating them raw!

Granny Smith apples are also delicious. I used to live right next door to the orchard where the original Granny Smith developed and have a fondness for them.

But most apples are delicious, so it hardly matters which kind was first :-)

Best wishes :-)

God told them to eat of all the fruit in the garden, but not the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil - so they ate of all the kinds of apples, oranges, pomegranates, figs, peaches - they also went and ate of a fruit (an actual fruit, from an actual one of a kind tree) that God told them not to eat from. God then placed angels at the gates to the garden to make sure nobody else got in there.

But of the apples they ate, they were probably great ones!

Keep eating. The Word of God doesn't even specify which fruit it was. Man has just said apple for fruit's sake. Enjoy your apple!

Well, it couldn't be your Granny Smith. There were no Grannies then, since they were the first people.

My bet would be the Winesap, just to give some connection to the Eucharist.

While we know that it was a fruit, we certainly no longer have it available to us, there was only one tree and God destroyed it.

It is referred to as an apple quite often, but truely we do not know what it looked like or tasted like and never will.

it likely wasn't an apple at all.
the scripture says "fruit".
It's likely that it was totally unique, as that was the only tree of its kind in the garden. Same with the tree of life.

blessings :)
