I'm entering a contest in a cook-off and I would like to garnish it with something other than celery

thanks Barbara, great idea with the shrimp! I usually put pickled okra, garlic stuffed olives and sometimes zesty pickle slices. I use picante clamato (cuz here in TX we like a lil hot!) I just tried Zing Zang mix and it is awesome (has a bit of a bite to it)

Something that will add a zing to your bloody mary is to add a small tot of Roses lime juice (if you can get it), this adds a whole new taste dimension to the drink, great idea about the shrimp, the exact amount of lime juice............make a few and try them in varying strengths....... great excuse to drink bloody mary's I hope you do well !!

If you like the shrimp idea as a garnish, pickle the shrimp... Use a mixture of balsamic (or any other) vinegar with good olive oil and let the pre-boiled shrimp set in it over night. Keep in mind a proportion of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts oil and it'll do wonders! I like the balsamic because it will slightly flavor the drink.

In Louisiana we put spicy pickled green beans. The best Bloody Mary I ever had was at "The Dock" in Jackson, Ms. on the reservoir and their secret ingredient was just a slight splash of pineapple juice, it mellowed the bite of the tomato juice.

Pickled okra or cocktail onions? I have also made them with Clamato instead of plain tomato juice and then you could use shrimp.

The question should be why would you want to make her appear? she is a very old urban legend. however, as with alot of thing's,a legend or tale is usually based on "SOME" sort of truth. Someplace, something sort of like her legend may have happened and as the story is retold a few hundred times, each person add's a little extra to the story. If she were real the last thing i would want to do is have her in a unlit room with me. Actually it probably would be your last thing you do......

Add 1/2 tsp of horseradish (more if it is a very tall glass) It alters the taste ever so slightly but makes it really good and no one ever figures out what made it that way. Good luck
