I would kill in the name of my family, especially my children, if it be a heinous crime. If I actually call you "friend", you are also part of my small but tight family. So, if the name of my religion be "family" then yes I would.

Killing in the name of any religion is wrong. It's even more wrong when people use a chosen religion as the vehicle to commit their wickedness in the name of that religion. Case in point, the catholic religion under the vatican using Christianity as an excuse to slaughter millions during the Crusades and the Inquisition. As for myself, I would never kill anyone except in defense of my family, my neighbors, or someone who was incapable of defending themselves against the attempt from someone else to take their life.

Do you think Joshua went to Hell for killing, when told to by God. To kill in the name of religion is a sin. To kill in the name of Christianity is not. Religion can be anything, you start one based on a book not the Bible. On bring the Bible in but it is not the main book, it is secondary. Check out Scientology, based on a book by L. Ron Hubbard called Dianetics. So I hope you see what I mean.

Killing in the name of a theory is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. I would never kill in the name of religion, any religion.

Depends on the religion. Certainly killing in the name of christianity is utterly retarded. JC never told anybody to go out and kill anybody else, in fact if i remember correctly he spoke quite strongly to the contrary. Retaliatory violence is fine in both Islam and Judaism but it must be interpreted along the lines of self defence to be just, otherwise the rule Thou shalt not murder applies. Hindus can murder but they must accept the consequences that has on their samsara or cycle of reincarnation, for Buddhists murder is always a moral and spiritual failure.
That's the five major religions covered. I'll spare you the details on the minors :)

honesty,it's wrong to kill in the name of religion, how did those people hurt your God, by not following them then you deserve to die, or did your God speak to you telling you to kill these people. And would I kill in the name of religion? NO. Would I kill someone if they hurt me or someone I loved, let's just say there would be justice. Would it have anything to do with my religion, no, the reason why is becuz I am my own religion, I follow noone, just myself. I am my own cult leader, I follow noone. And nobody follows me.

Killing for any reason other than self defense is senseless and nobody wins. I do not adhere to religions for this very reason, they have all at one time or another advocated wars on others for the sake of their being right.

I think it's pure unadulterated human ego that calls for such a thing.
What kind of god honestly does not have the power to smite his own enemies?
I wouldn't follow such a WEAK god.
No I would not kill in the name of my religion for reasons stated above.
