I don't know of any Catholics who are not at least disturbed if not outraged by the actions of the few bishops who refused to address this serious problem properly in their individual dioceses. There was however no "sex scandal", despite the relentless efforts of the secular press to create such an appearance. The facts are ... a small number of homosexuals, fewer than 1% of priests, about the same number you would find in any cross section of society, made improper advances toward underage adolescent boys. This happens in every church, and in every organization that provides services to youth. The coverup, in those specific places where it occurred, was indeed a scandal. The fact that a few priests were homosexuals is really to be expected, given that all priests are human beings and all human beings are sinners.

People don't want to face the truth about their religions and spirituality in general. I am a practicing Catholic and I find the whole molestation deal reprehensible. Children only deserve love and happiness.

Consider your question a success. A thumbs down means you made a direct hit.

Thumbs down doesn't mean anything. I get them all the time.
It is just another form of hate. If the thumbs down is misused, the misuser has the problem, not you.aen

Some people use TD as a way to disagree, not a way to evaluate the answer.

As if it's some kind of poll.
