I see this on HGTV a lot. Just curious if it matters to believers one way or another.

I think I might have a problem having sex in a place that was once used for comunnion...

Hmmmmm I think it could have possibly have a positive impact on the family -- on the other hand... lots of stuff goes on in churches, in the words of another I read about not taking old brooms into new places because of the old dirt it would bring
(in essence) then that could be an issue

But a building is a building.

I don't care. If they're not useful because the congreations have outgrown them, then it's ok. God has a new house built, why leave this one to fall down?

Oh, and yeah there are other reasons for the churches closing down too, like the town lost faith in that church...or didn't have enough money to pay the taxes and such.

But hey, if a church puts a roof over someone's head, why not allow it?

I nearly purchased an old church to renovate in to my personal residence...would have been a great "loft-like" atmosphere but outside my price range once I factored in necessary renovations.

No problem for me.

In downtown Denver, they converted an old church in to a bar (called "The Church" when I lived there). Pretty neat place but it felt a bit strange to me. It was a little sad I guess to think that the church that built it built such a beautiful structure but wasn't able to survive as a church...perhaps they put too much in to the building and not enough in to the congregation??

I think it's cool. Gotta be some neat vibes, living in a place that was a church for 50-100 yrs.

I think all churches should be cleared out and made into homes for the finacially disadvantaged. Cemetaries and gold courses mowed over too. But, I'm not Christian, so I guess I see it differently.

No problem... The Church is not of brick and morter... The Church is where Two or more gather in His name.

I see no problem -- provided the church concerned yielded the structure voluntarily.

i don't like it...i think i should be named as a cultural heritage site...whether people like it or not Christian culture has influenced the west and we should treat abandoned churches as cultural objects...
