Do you believe in the religious god that they teach us about or do you just believe that there just is a god that exists. The more I live the more I think that "God" is just our parent sitting up there helping us when we want to be helped.

I believe there is most certainly a supreme consciousness....but I do my best to avoid attributing human qualities to it. It has to be so far beyond human understanding as to be unimaginable other than recognizing instinctively it's existence.

Yes I do believe in the GOD of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.
Romans 3
"God's Faithfulness"
1 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? 2 Much in every way! First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God.
3 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness? 4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written:
"So that you may be proved right when you speak
and prevail when you judge."[a]

5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God's righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.) 6 Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? 7 Someone might argue, "If my falsehood enhances God's truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?" 8 Why not say—as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say—"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved.

I believe in the God....the one and only, because I know Him.

You're getting it. Yes God is our parent, and yes He is there to help us. But there's more to it than that. he is a real person who wants a real personal relationship with you. Seek Him and you will find Him.

Best of luck and many blessings =)

I believe in God, The one and only, beginning and end, creator of all things. The past, present and future. The Almighty God. He is our Heavenly Father, and he does help us, so in a way your right.

No.

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

That's an interesting analogy, and I can see sense in it. I believe in God, and that God is in all things and is all things and all things are God, that we all have the divine within us.
