Yes, i know thats not the point..... But I would still like to know. The bible does not state how far it was, so I was wondering if anyone has read anything about that.

Thanks

There are 14 points to the Stations of the Cross which you can walk, in the HOLY land . ..

Jesus is condemned to death
Jesus receives the cross
Jesus falls the first time
Jesus meets His Mother
Simon of Cyrene carries the cross
Veronica wipes Jesus' face with her veil
Jesus falls the second time
Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
Jesus falls the third time
Jesus is stripped of His garments
Crucifixion: Jesus is nailed to the cross
Jesus dies on the cross
Jesus' body is removed from the cross (Pieta)
Jesus is laid in the tomb

It appears that the trial and Crucifixion lasted through six hours of the passion narrative and the carrying of the cross i heard estimated at about 650 yards or about 2000 feet . .. a mile is 5280 feet so about half a mile or a little less . ..

LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.

Jesus Walk To The Cross

Good question my friend. I find few who will consider it as I did because of the words in the Bible.

I find no record that Jesus did actually carry the physical cross at all. Yes he did carry the cross meaning the burden to pay for the death that was due for others but to me that is all that he did carry. The account seems to me to say he was not capable of carrying the physical cross, thus it was carried by another for him.

I personally believe this is why in the epistles the cross is referred to as a pole or tree. In the Old Testament the words are "cursed is the man hung on a tree".

Do have a good day and give it more thought in your search.

At the time of J*sus, Jerusalem was only 0.6 miles long, from wall to wall. It seems much longer when you walk along the Via Dolorosa and through all 14 stations of the cross; been there, done that....
It is worth the visit to Jerusalem!!!!

How could someone who weighs about 175 lbs carry an instrument that weighs around 275 lbs for even a block?

You are correct, the Bible does not say.

The Bible does say that when He was only part way there, the Roman Soldiers got someone else to carry it for Him.

Not sure the actual distance but I think it was through a city and up a hill to Calvary. I'm sure glad I gave my life to Him.
