In the 5 years I have been giving my cat insulin, I have stuck myself several times with my cat's insulin needle and except for it stinging for a few minutes, I haven't had any problems. I just wash my hands with an antibacterial soap, rinse and dry.
Since you are having minor surgery in the morning, let your physician know about the stick and let them check it, just to be on the safe side.
I hope you have someone to help you with your kitty while you recoup from your surgery.
Purrs and prayers to you and your kitty.

It's fine. When our diabetic cat was alive, this happened to both my SO and to me occasionally. The first time it happened, we both got *very* freaked out & my SO phoned the vet for advice.
Since you'll be seeing a Dr. in the morning anyway, you can ask them if you have any concerns or questions. I hope that goes well for you.
Good luck with your diabetic kitty. Our guy was doing very well with his diabetes but unfortunately he had other problems & we lost him shortly before he would have turned 15 years old. May your kitty enjoy a long happy life with you!

I don't think you have anything to worry about; I used to give my cat subcutaneous fluids daily and I was told that we can't catch cat diseases and pricks are not a problem (and I had a few let me tell you.)
But more importantly, what the heck are you asking us for? Perhaps your nurse/dr in the morning would be a better forum?
Good luck
