You can probably expect your interest rate to shoot up on any Amex card that you have.
Even other non Amex creditors may notice when it is reported and raise the rates on those cards.

And/or Amex may credit limit decrease your account(s)
That is if Amex does not close the account(s) first.

The same thing happened to me. I owed $600 and couldn't pay the full amount one month. I had this card for 4 years and never was late once. I called them and told them of my situation. I paid them 100 immediately, and two weeks later $50. Everything was fine (they said), because I paid them something. I was going to pay them $ 100 two weeks later, and that's when I got THE CALL. It was from a collection agency demanding payment in full. They told me amex doesn't work like a regular credit card, and if they didn't receive the balance in full within 24 hours, they were sending this to their legal dept. I wouldn't mess around with them. I would cut up this card a.s.a.p. and have nothing further to do with them. Who needs their stupid points??

As long as you made the minimum payment, you won't be charged any extra fees. Is the green card a due in full each month card? Your APR will be applied to the remaining balance.

from amex site : Late penalty: Varies from state to state, from zero to the greater of $35 or 2.99% of delinquent balance.

You would need to contact american express to find out terms for your state.

This is a place to ask this question.
Did you ever read the terms of service on your card.

I 'm sorry I have no answer and no pity for your situation.
