In the view of a "NO" these words are designed to cause confusion. The difference depends on the user and his assigned definition to them. In most cases the one who insists they are different wants them that way so he will appear as a more learn-ed individual in your eyes.

The best I can dig out so far from the bible is that a Man is two- fold in pure existence. One fold is the spirit [or soul] and the other is the physical. The spirit or soul is eternal and the physical is temporary in this era or age.

A Ghost is a Spirit which is a Soul the Etheric body that we use to Astral Travel so when we pass over that is what leaves the body.

It is understood as a sort of life force body or aura that constitutes the "blueprint" of the physical body, and which sustains the physical body.

Some people don't pass over because of unfinished business
Or they just don't know they have died
Or they didn't know to go to the light
This is what people call a Ghost
I call Spirit some call Lost Souls

Nothing in life is to be feared, It is only to be understood.

the soul is the human being, the spirit is what make the soul began its fuction, if there is no spirit "energy of life" the soul or the being is dead. (Ezekiel 18:3-5)

We are the soul that is the fruit desired by God. His children. The Holy Spirit is from God and is God and it entwines itself in our souls and is a servant counselor helper. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. There are also earthly spirits which try to possess people. People receive these spirits through participating in divination, witchcraft, sorcery, etc..

There is a great verse in 1 Thess 5:23.
"And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

This verse makes distinctions between the three parts of a man.
He has a body to contact the physical world through the five senses. Giving Him body consciousness

Deeper in his being is his soul which is made up of three parts. The Mind, the Will and the Emotions.
Man's soul gives him his personality and it is from his soul that he contacts the physiological realm. He has self consciousness through his soul.

Deepest is man's human spirit. This is the part of man that became deadened at the time of the fall. God is Spirit and man has been made with a spirit whereby he can contact God.. contain God, have fellowship with God, worship God. The spirit has three main functions... they are the Conscience, Intuition and fellowship. With our spirit we have God Consciousness.

In Hebrews we see that the Word of God is living and active and sharper than a two edged sword .. able to divide between the soul and spirit .. and of the joints and marrow ( body) and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart ( soul)

Our body encases our soul and our soul encases our human spirit.
The difference between our soul and spirit is this. Our spirit is that part of us that becomes enlivened with the Life of God when we are saved or regenerated. When we called upon the Name of the Lord and believed in our hearts, the Lord began to indwell our spirit. It is the part of us that matches God.. that is made according to the same " kind" as God. It is FROM our spirit that the Lord proceeds to transform all of our soul by the working and operating of the Holy Spirit.

Each day.. we need to come to the Lord as our fountain of Iife.. our living bread.. to have fellowship with Him...
Through this fellowship in the word and through prayer.. our mind is renewed...
The mind is the leading faculty of our soul and wherever we "set" our minds thats where our emotions and will are going to follow.
So look at this verse in Romans 8:6
" for the mind set on the flesh ( fallen body became the flesh) is DEATH.. but the mind set on the spirit is LIFE and PEACE"

Our Lord Jesus does not want to remain as a prisoner in our spirits ..He wants to have a way to use our spirits as a starting point to SPREAD into our hearts through faith. This is God's goal.. Through the working and renewing of the Holy Spirit in our spirit He can conform us into the Image of Christ. This is a process that takes the whole of our christian lifetime. Our prayer each day should be.. Lord transform me to Your image..In emotion ..mind and Will.. Lord..saturate me with Your Spirit. . Till you fill my whole being.

Sorry i am taking such a long time sister.. but i just want to touch one more point.
There is a parable of the 10 virgins.
5 were wise
5 were foolish
The word reveals that all ten had a lamps and vessels. that in all the lamps there was Oil
The spirit of man is a Lamp unto Jehovah
Man is created as a vessel ( soul) to contain God as his content.
OIL in the bible always typifies the Holy Spirit.
So here we see.. a Lamp... A vessel.. and the Oil
The wise virgins had the oil in their lamps WITH the vessel.. meaning that the Holy Spirit in their lamps ( spirit) was able to saturate their vessel ( soul) ..
the foolish virgins had oil ONLY in the lamp..they did not have the extra oil in their vessels. Meaning that they did not allow the HOly Spirit to saturate and transform their soul.. He was cooped up in their spirits all along.. They did not live according to the Spirit...did not walk in the Spirit. This is a warning to us all.. we need to let the Lord saturate us. Need to open up our being for the Spirit to SPREAD into our vessels so that we will have the EXTRA oil there too:)

Praise the Lord..He is able to finish what He has begun in us.. and preserve our spirit ...soul... and body until His glorious return.

I am sorry for being so long sister.. forgive me.. but hopefully this has shed some light ..

Keep on abiding..keep the Lord spreading!!!

In Christ
