Does God even have a certain skin color? There are many that portray him as white but a lot of black people think of him as black? is it a personal decision?

well jesus is the picture being portrayed. and he was born a jew in nazareth, which i think is somewhere in israel, so he probably looked like the middle eastern people. but no i don't think it matters and God himself is said to be light and a spirit. so i think he should look like light not human with a skin color (not light skin, but light like from the sun or light bulb)

Assigning God (the Father) a skin color is called anthropomorphism - attributing human characteristics to a nonhuman entity.

God is Spirit and has no flesh. Personally, if I try to picture God, I see a light brighter than the sun but not blinding - hard to describe now that I try, I guess you'd say I "picture" God as the absolute absence of darkness.

Jesus, the Word made flesh, was born in the Middle East and looked like the Jew He was. The Bible says He wasn't much to look at though - so the Anglo-Saxon "pretty-boy" shown on most crucifices is simply an artistic representation made popular during the rennaisance.

God is Spirit not flesh & blood therefore He is neither white or black but He could appear either way. The skin color doesn't matter anyway. Of course those who don't believe in God will tell you He has no skin color because He doesn't exist. Instead of them believing in a God who planed & created everything much like a car is designed & built, instead they believe everything came into existance just at the right time thru evolution & all just by accident.(talk about blind faith)

I wouldn't think a bright pure light would have a "skin color". While we're on the subject of religion and skin color, if you believe in Jesus, and have paid attention to the bible, can you honestly say Jesus Christ was a pale white guy? Most people I've seen from the region of his birth are darkerin skin pigment. I'm a Scottish, very whit person, but let's be honest about our history here

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well that God is Spirit. Assigning a skin color to God is ridiculous.

GOD is Spirit, s/he doesn't have a body or gender.
But Jesus came to show us the Father, & give us the Spirit.
We can be pretty sure that Jesus was not Caucasian.
Every culture portrays Jesus to look like themselves.
This is why Jews had a commandment about no images.

There is no Scripture to show that God has a certain colour preference. The nearest thing that you may associate God with skin colour is Jesus himself. Naturally, Jesus' skin would be the same as any Jew in his day, that is, Middle Eastern. It is not the colour of your skin that matters, it is who you are in Christ.

God is a spirit (John 4:24) so he does not have a skin color.

I think it is because God created man in the image of himself.

So if you are a white person, you think He is white. Blacks see Him as black. Middle Eastern Christians see Him with that skin tone.

But no one really expects to see God as a man. So it doesn't matter.

In the New Testament Jesus said, 'if you've seen me, you've seen the Father'...so if you take that as a literal--Jesus was obviously a Jewish man living in the Middle East...hence God would have those physical attributes, including skin color.
