Yes, the cat is neutered, but his balls are still intact, there are two ways of fixing him. It just depends on what vet you go to. A male can be fixed, without having his balls removed.

Call you vet and see if he can give you advice on what to do. Also, they may have something on the behavioral part of the aspca.org site. Good luck!

Some chill out in the spraying department after they are neutered and others don't. My kitty boy doesn't spray in the house, but he's very territorial outside when other cats come by, and he does still spray. It's the alpha in them. But just an aside... when you have a boy cat neutered, that IS castrating them. Unless they are doing kitty vasectomies nowadays-LOL! Spraying has nothing to do with sperm or ejaculation or anything; it comes from a gland.

neutered and castrated is pretty much the same thing. either way the male cat is cut. sometimes what happens is if you don't get the animal cut in time before they have sprayed, then they will probably always spray. you can check with your vet if their is any way to remove the scent gland in the pee. i have no idea, so like i say check with your vet before you do anything.

Sick! Really?? I wonder why? I thought after they were neutered they stopped that. What a turd!
My male cat keeps bringing me mice. Sometimes alive, sometimes dead. This morning I had to pick up a dead one from my den and he had bit the freaking head off! Good luck with your cat. cats are so awesome but sometimes have the most annoying habits!
P.S. everyone, I think what they are saying is the cat was neutered (the balls removed) but he is still spraying. maybe if they removed the penis also??

Neutered male cats ARE castrated!
What did you think Neutered meant?
You may have waited too long to have the cat neutered. Ideal age is 6 months to neuter a cat.

He's spraying because he's marking territory. If he still has his testicles, he's still producing testosterone, and will still have testosterone-driven behaviors. Spraying, roaming, etc.
Have him fully neutered (not just a vasectomy) and you should see a decrease in the territorial behaviors.

You just said he was neutered...then asked if neutering would help him???? Neuter= spay for females, castration for males.
So, is he neutered or isn't he??
