I want a summer job sooo badly now, but i didn't think of applying to jobs in June because of exams and stuff. Now it's like July 16th, and I've applied at some stores, like future shop, best buy and other stores, but I haven't heard back. Is it too late to find one now?? I need the cash!!! BTW im 16 :P

Well its never too late to find some kind of job.. even if you make one... but use this summers lesson to plan for next. It will apply the rest of your life.

1) Plan for things that you know will happen. Summer is a sure bet - each year til you graduate.. the best jobs get taken by the kids that did the planning. If you want to practice saying 'want fries with that?' well thats ok too.. but if you want a job that is fun, pays well and is something that you enjoy.. you got to get there first with a good package

2) At 16 your job opportunities are limited because of federal laws. Best Buy is not going to hire you. (welcome to age discrimination kid.. ). This summer go make a job.
Get a bucket, a hose, some soap and some towels and start a car wash business ...or something like that. (At $5 to $10 for a basic wash, 5 hours a day will make you a LOT more then Best Buy AND you get to choose your own hours )

3) Don't forget to have some fun along the way.. you have a 'last summer' coming up soon.. make it one to remember (ask your Dad about the 'Last Summer'.

good luck

.

Absolutely not! I just got a job last Thursday at Bob Evans! Keep checking. I was in your position last week. I desperately went to 33 businesses. Less than half of them looked promising. Yeah it's that crazy, but you'll find something. The places you've applied at might not need immediate help. Why not try McDonalds? They're always hiring. Best of luck!

It is kind of late to find a summer job, but talk to friends and family to see if they can get you "in" at some company. Keep on applying as well. Don't forget to speak to managers and make phone calls. On the interview, I would not tell them you're only looking for a part time job, as they likely won't want to train you if you're going to leave in 6 weeks or so.

I'm not looking for a job in retail, but I've been to enough places this week where retail places had hiring signs that I've noticed. Blockbuster (I'm pretty sure they hire teens), a clothing store of some type, go places you would normally go and may like to work (maybe even get discounts for working there!) and see if they need people.

I think you should still go job searching but you should be honest with your employers.

I think your best bet would be talking to local business owners. People who own a small business will probably need more help than a large chain. I think you should go talk to the owner one on one.
