Yeah - I believe so.
the thing is that if you only believe in God/Jesus - Christianity - because you don't want to go to hell, you really are not hearing the right message. This is why I left Christianity - because it is wrong, to me, to use fear to bring people to the Christian faith.
Martin Luther, the Reformation guy, once said (and I paraphrase) that he did not care if God allowed him to be in Heaven or sent him to hell. Luther's only concern was that he was to love God and let God be God.
The Christian faith doesn't really embrace this anymore - instead it is all about what God can do for them. Does nobody see the wrong in this way of thought?

Hell isn't really an evil place. Hell is more of a state of being type deal. You are separated from God, but you aren't in fire and brimstone. I don't believe that the God that I know would put any good people in Hell just because they chose not to believe in Him. I only believe that those who are truly truly evil (ex. Hitler) go to Hell. And, God would know that those ppl only believe b/c they fear Hell, so it would be kind of pointless anyways.

If that is true, then that person will not be in heaven. Cuz God knows the heart and one must truly believe. God is wonderful and nice and He warns us all on how to avoid hell, but if ppl wont hear Him, whose fault is it, ?? their own. So dont blame God this is one reason He gave us a Bible, so we would know. Yet most mock it and wont read it or know it. Yet they say how could God create a world of such sin. He didnt, but He gave us a choice to sin or not, and it is ppl that choose sin , not God. jesus lived a sinless life and we are called to that too. Hell is made because so many wont accept God, what else is He to do with them? LEt them go to Heaven with us? and watch as they make it there like they make it here and now. I dont think so.
Dont blame God for the choices ppl make, they can jsut as easily know God and His word and love HIm and live like JEsus. amen all choice.

I did. But who cares why they believe? If there's a hell, you'd best avoid it by believing in God (more specificly, trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation). Think of it this way. Someone tells you for 100 years that they want nothing to do with you. Do you take them into your home when they want/need a place to stay, or do you grant them their wish? The Bible says every good thing comes from God, so He has no other choice but to put them in an evil place called hell, which is outside of His presence. There is no good place completely outside of God's presence.

Of course. the purpose of religion is to encourage obedience through inticing rewards, or instilling fear of punishment for bad behavior. Only the agnostic/atheist that believes in living the moral life can be trusted. They believe in doing what is right, because it IS the correct thing to do.

I think you're right, if only because so many christians tell atheists that we should believe in their god because if we don't we'll go to hell. Of course, they don't realize how silly that sounds to people who know that hell doesn't exist.

I was like that for about 3 years, then I made up my mind.
I realized that god was 100% impossible, so I had nothing to fear anymore.
Hey, if hell is separation from god, then I'm in it right now huh ?
This is great, I like it here!

God doesn't put people in hell- it is our choice to go there. Your decision to reject Him is the choice to condemn yourself to hell.
And... people wouldn't just believe in God so they wouldn't go to hell- why don't they just not believe in hell or heaven either. It would probably be easier for them to just deny everthing instead of believing in one thing to save them from the other.

No. At least not me. I believe in God because I am a firm believer of the Catholic faith.
You have a right to your opinion, and I disagree with it.
