We have 12 Carrier Battle Groups and The US Air Force has Global reach.

Between them it will get worked out.

With Air Force, Air Guard, Naval Air Stations all over the country with guy's ready to fly I would guess there is not a major city within minutes of flight time. Some may have CAPs as we speak. Some airports have SAM coverage too if what I have read is correct. I would also bet dollars to donuts that DC has active ADA 24/7.

F16 ADF (Air Defence Fighter) are on call at several airbases. The ADF is a little-known variant that has some minor differences from the F16C/D that we all know and love. Also, several airbases have F15s on call. The first aircraft launched on 9/11 were Eagles, while the aircraft that intercepted the stray Learjet a few years back was an F16.

most likely the 1st aircraft would be the FA-18 super hornet, since it is carrier based and most likely would be the 1st aircraft within striking distance for any threat. Given time a B-2 would nail it can get there fast enough. That said the 1st response would probally be a tomahawk strike.

Depends of the threat... If its a target surfacing at the other side of the planet, they will send the Black manta (secret airplane, can use lasers to destroy targets). If its an airborn threat then they should use F-22 or F-15 eagles...

It would depend what type of aircraft was needed. our aircraft are not only on based throughout the world, but they are also on ships ready to go, along with the Marines aboard these ships..these ships are scattered throughout the world to promptly respond when needed
