Rachael got her start with food working at an upscale food store as a buyer & manager, she made the prepared foods very popular and people stopped buying the normal food. Rachael started doing cooking demos that were picked up by her local news station. Then she did a cookbook & was asked to be on good morning america, after that food network picked her up to show people that everyone can cook & you don't need a degree to do so.
plus she is entertaining!

I swear there is a degree for everything. Do you think all those people who own Chinese restaurants have cooking degrees? You don't need a degree to be a successful cook. Rachel Ray has personality. And personality goes a long way. :)

Most of the chefs on tv are only self trained. Rachel Rays cooking show is about how to use mechanincally prepared foods and ingredients combined with pre-made sauces to create a variety of foods. She does not even qualify as a chef. But her skills in teaching this easy style of cooking, and her on screen charm make her a marketing and PR goldmine.

She worked with her mother at a restaraunt when she was growing up. She started off writing her cookbook "30 minute meals" before Food network hired her. You don't have to have a cooking degree to know how to cook. Paula Deen doesn't have a cooking degree either. But she is one of the best southern cooks out there.

I merely watched Iron chef usa and he or she stated many situations she bakes yet she isn't a chef. She incredibly is a powerful prepare dinner/baker yet she isn't a chef so i think of she could be disrespecting chefs international huge if she wore the jacket as she in no way earned it. I do think of she might desire to placed extra on whilst she chefs even however :)

There are shows and competitions to find new Food Network stars. There are numerous people with shows that are not 'chefs', just cooks who know how to impress the right people.

Beats me, She definitly can't bake, and admits she can't.
All she does is slop everything in one pan and call it a meal.
She does have a good personality, though.

Maybe she is just talented. Just because you don't have a degree doesn't mean your not good at something.
