Whatever curtain fabric you like, just go for one that has been treated with sunblock ( a rubberized coating). This helps to reduce fading, as well as giving better privacy when the lights are on in the van.
Good luck and happy traveling.

Find fabric that has a tighter weave to it, and is thicker in texture, what I did for our camper is went and found discounted curtains that looked decent cut them to the length that I needed and hemed up the bottom. Any of the left over fabric I had I made cushions for the benches, looked great.

dyed cotton is the worst for fading.
Do not use a knit,or a jersey.
Go for a light weight bleached canvas. Add you own design with material paint. Could be great if you have kids.
Canvas comes in checks stripes for country flavour. Or you can get great patterned material in a polyester, cotton mix
Have fun. I did this a few years ago.

Use a heavy liner on your curtains. Have your printed fabric inside, and the liner facing outdoors. You will get the pleasure of the lovely pattern you picked inside , and your neighbours will just see white on the outside. The heaviest liner will blacken a room on the brightest day, and the lightest liner will give you privacy, but filtered day light.

Ask at fabric stores or curtain stores. You would probably want something with protection from the sun and very durable.
