LOL. Yes, sky. I did. I just was called for jury duty last week myself. So, I thought it was appropriate question as well.

Never have used an excuse. Been called twice and served both. It was an interesting experience.

I haven't had to give an excuse just yet but I don't think I'd mind going if the courts wernt so tyrannic about it. They act like they own you and TELL you you must go or else you will get jail and fines. I know in my area they will not pay you more than 5 bucks a day for service!. That is a slap in the face for someone who makes 50k a year and then won't provide for parking and will pay very little for gas to get to court...oh but hey they are nice enough to give you a bus pass or trolley ticket! That in my opinion is unconstitutional. No wonder why people have a chip on their shoulders when they get the call.

You know sometimes i wonder if i might want jury duty. But my father and brother work at a news station so i don't do jury duty....

Several and have never had a judge detain me for my freedom to express why I don't want to do jury duty. Did you read todays news on Yahoo?

there really isn't a excuse,if your job don't let you go you cant go if you have Major children you cant go if you take care of children are take care of a handy cap person are you self is self impaired for any reason like long term memory problems things like that

just say "My grandmother is very sick and i need to stay with her at all times". since that is very personal, they won't question it.
