Sorry GTO was discontinued in 2006 MY GTO six speed was faster at the drag strip and road course when it was stock. GTO has the exact same Tremec transmission as the Cobra or Viper and almost the same rear end ratio. The supercharged Mustang Cobra and GTO is slower in the drag but about the same road course. Built in Australia by Holden the GTO is very powerful tires are just to narrow.

stock 2007 GTO has a lot more horsepower than the stock 2007 mustang GT, so im going to say the GTO is faster

Cheap and Fast? That's a novel idea. There are cars that will catch a blown Cobra for around the same money. But any that are faster with two semi-competent drivers will be as or more expensive. Or will need to be modified (more money) to fit the bill. For the absolute bottom dollar, including mods, you will not find a better performance car for the money than a Mustang. They are cheap to buy, cheap to mod, and lighter than a Camaro. Dont' belive it? 98% of the hardcore Chevy guys I know have started racing Mustangs because thier Camaros couldn't keep up with the same investment. The one that is still running a SS Camaro has swapped in a built 6.0 with twin turbos to keep up with the single turbo, 347ci Fox chassis Mustangs we run with.

It may depend on the driver cause these cars are fairly close. I would probably give it to the gto, but just because it has a bigger engine and more horsepower doesn't mean the gto is faster. Torque is what gets you off the line.

No the mustang is a bit faster in1/4 mile top end may be a little different however the mustang will win out. hope this helps.
