I definitely think ten is possible. Twenty is really too much to lose in a month if you want to stay healthy. The keys to my successful weight loss in the past has been: 1. lots of water 2. no white foods (bread, pasta, potatoes, etc... however, you can have wheat type breads) 3. consistent exercise... even if it's just walking a mile every evening 4. no eating after about 6 or 7 at the latest...
Doing it the healthy way is the only way to have positive, lasting results. I guarantee you, and I'm speaking from experience, if you try to starve yourself you WILL gain everything you lost back, and then some... in the mean time you'll be hurting your body and your looks, like it or not...
Anyway, good luck and remember being thin is NOT everything!:) Being healthy is a much more valuable asset in the long run!:)

5-10 lbs maybe if you really exercise ALOT. You have to burn many more calories than you eat. You should join Weight Watchers even if yuo only want to lose 10-20 pounds ~ you'll be on the right road to life long weight maintenance. No fad dieting and you get a whole lot of support and education.

Yes you can! I lost 30 lbs in one month by riding my bicycle about 2 miles everyday. I drank mostly just water, rarely anything else and ate healthy. 10-20 pounds should be easy to loose if you eat right and do cardio (running, jogging, swimming, biking) 30- 1hr. a day or 3 times a week. Good luck, I once was trying to do the same thing last year when I lost 30 lbs.

There's lots of ways to cut calories but not starve yourself. One of the best rules is to eat your calories, don't drink them. Cut out all soda (it's horrible for you anyway) and try iced green tea instead, it helps speed up your metabolism a bit. Also, most people mistake thirst for hunger. If you're feeling hungry, try drinking a big glass of water or tea, and if you're still hungry 15 minutes later, then eat. A quick way to lose an honest 5lbs, completely cut out the sodium!! I do this a week before an event that I want to look fabulous for, it works nicely. Try to eat 5 or 6 little meals throughout the day instead of 3 big ones. Veggies are full of fiber and will fill you up quickly. An apple and peanut butter is a perfect snack! Or a hard-boiled egg and some whole-wheat crackers. Again, push the water and tea, it'll really help to keep you full. Eat slowly, it takes your brain 15 minutes to register that you're full, so don't inhale your food or you'll overeat. Try putting your fork down in between meals, and chew your food 25 times before you swallow. Also, whole grains truly fill you up faster! Brown rice is so yummy, make a stir-fry w/ veggies. Whole wheat toast or a bagel for breakfast should keep you full for awhile. Good luck!

In order to lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks you need to have a calorie deficit (calories eaten minus calories burned) of roughly 8000 calories a week. It really depends upon your activity level. A large man could lose this much weight fairly easily, but a small women with little muscle mass would find it more difficult.
Fad diets are a waste of time and money. They do not teach you to eat properly and you just regain any weight you lose.

You could probably lose 10 lbs before school starts (more only if you are very overweight) with healthy diet and exercise. Drink at least 6 glasses of water daily and eat 5 times a day. I suggest weight watchers with plenty of exercise.

To lose 1 pound you have to eat 3500 calories less than usual or burn that many more than normal. If you cut out 500 calories a day from your normal diet you will lose a pound a week which is about 4-5 pounds a month. That is the most healthy way to go about losing weight. Check out this website, it will tell you how many calories you burn doing everyday activities! I love it! http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc

Something that helped me... I don't change my diet at first I just cut whatever I'm eating in half. Poor salt all over the other half so you don't have the urge to cheat. Its not such a shock and its pretty easy to stick to. Once you start to feel a bit of a difference you want to do more. Also, try not to eat right before you go to bed and drink lots of water.
Hope this helps! :)

Yes you can. the key is to watch the size of your portions, minimize the sweets (and booze) and most important, get into a regular routine of exercise. Include both strength training and cardio. For example. one day, ride a bike, then do a follow-up with free weights while you are still warmed up from the ride. On another day go for a short run, then follow with weights. On the weights, one day, work your upper body, and on another focus on the legs. Changing up your routine will keep it more interesting and make it easier to maintain. I have used both biking and running, and moved from free weights to a bowflex. But I still go back to the weights every once in a while to keep the machine "honest".

yes, how do you think people lost weight before faddiets?! anyways, you should try hiring a personel trainer- that way you can lose ten lbs faster OR you could lose MORE than ten pounds in a month. if you can't afford that, there are camps that you can attend that help you lose weight, you could also try becoming interested in a sport- it's an easy and fun way to lose weight, good luck :D
