My girlfriend lost her insurance and recently ran out of her prescription of Cymbalta. If it gets to the point where we have to pay the $380 to get the prescription filled, we will do so but trying to look at other options. Is thier a generic?? Or any ideas of some kind of temp insurance or way to get this drug cheaper? Thanks

Unfortunately if your girlfriend is being treated for depression it is likely that she'll be turned down for a private pay insurance plan; they will call her depression a "preexisting condition". If she lost her insurance because of a job loss she'd be better off getting her insurance continued through COBRA (from her previous job) as she'd get insurance for less than she'd pay on the private market, and then her "preexisting condition" wouldn't count against her.

She might be able to get discounted medication through the Partnership for Prescription Assistance; you can apply on line. https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php

Finally, be sure to check in with your county's public mental health outpatient clinic as you might be able to see a doctor there and get cymbalta less expensively. Or, might be able to switch to another anti-depressant that is generic.

There is no generic for cymbalta and won't be for a number of years.

Unfortunately, this drug is new and as you well know, a new drug has no Generic for a while. I'm on it and it is a life saver for me. If it will cost $380.00 per month to get the prescription filled, call BC/BS about a plan that will be relatively inexpensive compared to the medicine you have to take that way it will take care of your other medical also. I'm on BC/BS and I have mail order Prescriptions so it only cost me $35. for 3 months. Sometimes you have to weight the cost of the Insurance verses the medical help you need. Then on the other hand, it may not be logical for you either. But, as to the answer of your ?-no their is no generic yet. Sorry.

sure, its referred to as Duloxetine. i don't be attentive to what pharmacy you flow to yet whilst they do no longer grant the time-honored variety of Cymbalta then i could evaluate switching to a different Pharmacy. merely ask for Duloxetine particularly of Cymbalta. it extremely is going to save ya lots! wish that facilitates
