They're going to complain either way, so why not give them a reason?

Icmcpa - I'm not saying people shouldn't complain; I'm just saying that at a certain point they need to either take action to change what they don't like or just shut up about it.

You have an excellent point there...and I would like to add just one more thing. There is nothing wrong with actually making a stand on a point if you are actually going to do something about it and you feel so strongly about it. The problem is the people who have such thin skins they get offended at the drop of a hat..i.e. saying Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays...because they make such a mountain out of a mole hill and then when it comes time to face the mountain nobody has the time or resources to deal with it. Any of us can sit here and name a hundred things that we don't like..but not many of us can actually say we are doing something about it. I would like to thank the men and women in uniform who are actually doing something about it even as our country cries and moans over the fate of people who would just as soon kill us as look at us.

You could not make it in the 3rd world, In Thailand, You work a 12 hour day, 7 days a week and are lucky to get two days off a month, for $200 a month. You Americans do not know how good you have it. You would complain if you got hung with a new rope.

Yes, people should learn to appreciate what they have.. After living in a third world country for a year, I am sure their attitudes will be completely improved.

No. Our forefathers bled and died to give us the right to complain. Perhaps you have heard of freedom of speech, the constitution, the constitutional amendments?

If you want to live in a country where people are afraid to complain, move to a communist country.

I can't say I disagree with your small theory of keeping one humble. They would definitely find appreciation in what they have then, for sure.
