I will be graduating in December 2007 with a B.A. in Sociology and a concentration in Human Services. Does anyone have any insight to the job market for this field? Especially in the South Carolina (Columbia, Charleston, Greenville) area where I would like to live. How long does it take to be hired for an entry level position such as a Human Service Specialist I? I do not have any internship experience, however, I am a volunteer at a religious based social service agency.

Go to www.state.sc.us and from there locate South Carolina's Department of labor. They should have a great deal of information on employment trends and forecasts for most every profession in the state.

If you can't find it there try America's Job Bank. They have national and regional information.

I would guess 3-4 years. There isn't much call for them, maybe volunteer at a homeless shelter or something.

One will give an explanation for anything via pronouncing "society does this" (approximately folks and their interactions) , the opposite will say "folks have built like this" (approximately genetic and cultural tendencies). Maybe!
