I had to miss 4 of my XC practices and today, when I got back to practicing, I had a hard workout. Now, my legs (especially calves) are really sore. Should I take aspirin (Tylenol)? Will it affect my running tomorrow? Has anyone ever taken aspirin for leg pain due to running?

Aspirin is the best! It thins your blood a little aiding blood flow and reducing inflammation. The next best thing is Alleve (Naproxin), it's a super anti-inflammatory but can burn your stomach a little bit. I like aspirin the best. Also cool water.

After four days off you loose a little fitness and need to hold back until you get strong again; it should take about a week of training to recover. I have hurt myself a few times returning too fast, running too hard. The muscles lose a little fitness but your energy level is surging; now you know what happens. I have been there.

Kidney damage? Many people take 81 mg of aspirin every day to compliment blood pressure medicine. Aspirin, taken as directed, is safe.

Personally I would recommend Tylenol.

Unlike Aspirin, Tylenol is much more gentler to your stomach and your kidney. As a runner, you are going to be dehydrated as you run. Aspirin can cause potential kidney damage in high amount. The same goes for Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Doans Powder, etc. Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is the only thing that is safe for your kidney.

You can take Tylenol 1 tab 2-3 time a day. If that does not help, then you can try some Motrin or Advil or Aleve twice a day with meal. I would rather not use Aspirin because they tend to thin out blood and make it easier to bleed and bruise.

What you also need to do is to stretch. You probably did not stretch as well, and since you missed practice, your body was not conditioned to the hard workout that you did.

Hope you're stretching a lot before and after running and having a good warmup.

Warm bath could help also along with the aspirin.

that's ok, notwithstanding it somewhat is a non everlasting fix. verify to tell your coach which you're sore, what you have been doing, and the place it hurts... If he/she has 2 innovations cells to rub collectively, he will inform you to take it elementary. be sure you're ingesting adequate proteins and the suited forms of carbs (complete wheat, brown rice, and so on) so as that your muscular tissues have the gas (carbs) to artwork and the climate (protein) to rebuild at night. additionally purely verify you stretch out *relatively* properly. it somewhat is relatively useful to to contemplate appearing some yoga (i understand, in all probability would be perplexing to greater healthy into you're already busy time table, yet a concept).

I have, it hasn't really affected me. It helps me a lot because my ankles start hurting with a jog, and with asprin it doesn't. If your sore don't, that just your mucles building up, and of course its going to hurt.
