I am in a cadet corp, and i love it. It has made me want to join the military. I want to personally join Army. Honestly I dont mind being sent out to the middle east as long as i get the good training needed such as those of special forces so i can be better prepared or Ranger school training and whatnot. My family though doesn't want me in the army. They are always telling me to go navy. But i dont want to be on a boat. It sounds boring. I dont care if they go around the world. Idea of being on a boat makes me sick. I would want to be either an MP or go straight for airborne. But i am not sure. People are always telling me that i will die, but its getting so annoying to a point that i really dont care about being deployed anymore. But I am just worried that am I being selfish if i go active because it would affact my father and brother and stuff like that. and my other family members. I really want to be active soldier, if i told them this, they would just think Im insane though.

They are very liberal democratic like, Im more republican like you can say because i dont approve of troops pulling out in the middle of this war. I am thinking maybe i should just join Active.
Also people are telling me that why I shouldn't even join the military. However the military stuff is the only thing i have found to like alot in my life. I don't even play with my xbox no more or nothing. Don't play basketball no more, its just military and Pt now for me. Thats what i really enjoy. I get upset with people telling me that i will die, and actually It's getting so anoying I don't care because i know there dying too. They may not die now but they will die later so I see why not join active, get the best training I can for combat and if I die, I would have anyways, I will just die serving my country now although I will of course do everything in my will to survive because others will depend on me for survival.

Also how can i tell my family I honestly don't mind about being deployed. If i tell them this everyone will just bother me about it. I really hate it when people ask me about it and that the military is the only thing that i really like alot and is the only thing that has truely made me happy. And i say this because ever since I joined my cadet corp my life was getting back on track. I used to be screwing up in my grades and it has helped me get back on tack by taking me out of my laziness and making me more diciplined. And Because of the cadets i learned the value of hardwork and i realize that in the military the, hardwork, dicipline and honor would be a satifying lifestyle to me.

Thats a very bad comparison of God and a child going to the army.
You know why?
Because God is supposed to have an Army himself that is trained to kill as well. You may call it protect God or the nation of god, good whatever you want to call it. It doesn't stop that If God is real. That he still has an Army himself.

If they can not support your decision to go into the Army. Then that is their problem. It is your decision to make, you can already see how miserable you will be doing something because someone else has decided. Go with your heart,it may be difficult for your family in the beginning, but your dad will be even more proud of you for doing what you felt was right in the end.

I served in both the Army and the Navy, started with the Army. Shortly after Desert Storm I broke service and then joined up in the Navy and stayed until I retired. When Operation Iraqi Freedom hit I was at a desk job and miserable. The Navy isn't bad, it is a good service but there was something I missed about being a soldier and being in the action. I'm not a thrill seeker by any stretch. I do know the risks of combat having seen it in both services. Perhaps it was my pride but I felt very useless at a desk.
If you are an operator you will be miserable in the Navy. There are many risks in life and there is a very small chance that you may be maimed or killed. We all die sometime. My best advice is to go where your heart leads you. In my case I missed out not going to Iraq but the Navy was much better for when I got out and it was better for my family.
Good luck and remember that the career ends someday. Enjoy it while you are in.

It is your decision. My nephew is 18 and just went into basic training. I live a couple miles from ft. bragg, so I have alot of friends and family in the military. My best friends husband was in the navy and he was gone for months even when there was no war going on. The death toll is not really that high. Compared to most wars the U.S. has been involved in. Everyone gets deployed eventually and most units go out more than once or even twice etc. It's not an easy job for you or family, but it's a personal dedication and strong feelings are always involved.

You can die in a car crash. You can die from anything, anywhere, at any time. When your number is up, the BIG Guy upstairs doesn't care if you are a Soldier in battle or a stock broker crossing the street. You are going to die. Follow your heart. They will love and respect you either way (even if they are libs).
BTW: Boats suck. The work on a boat is hard work. Go Air Force or Marines.
Remember: ALWAYS check your 6

I joined the Air Force, one month before the fall of Siagon. My Dad told me, the stuff in Vietnam wasn't over yet, but I didn't care. I wanted to join the service, and my Pop was proud of me for my decision. My advice to you, is don't let anyone influence your decision. Take their advice and think about it, but in the end you must make the choice. It is your life, and only you can decide what is best for you. I wish you luck on your decision and your life. If you do go Special Forces or Airborne, just keep your head down and rock on. Again, good luck. Peace to you, and yours.

I appreciate your concern for your family, but this is your decision. Once you're 18 and can join without their say-so, you can join the branch of service you choose to join. You simply say, "Mom, Dad, I love you, and I'm doing the thing I truly want to do with my life. I need your support, even if you think this isn't a good idea."
That's a hard transition for parents to make, by the way... With a little nudge from you, they'll get it...

I understand your point of view. I took Army ROTC before enlisting, knowing well I'd make a career of it. I wanted the Infantry, but my aptitude scores were too high in the Morse code testing, so I went to the Signal Corps instead. I ended my 20-year career serving in the Military Intelligence.
You will have to do what you want out of life. Others have made their bed and their careers. So what if they don't match your desires to serve our country? You cannot live your life doing what you think everyone else wants you to do. I don't argue the point of thinking a decision through before making it, but it is your choice, your life, and your satisfaction that is on the line.

I think everything thats going on now is only going to get worse. Things that are going on now is predicted in the Holy Bible.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4: And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Im not an expert but there is a preacher in miami flordia with a church who is claming to be jesus and all his followers are getting 666 tattoos on there bodys. (dont follow him he is not christ)
6: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Here that about the wars. People this book was written over 2000 years ago. He called these wars a long time ago. You think he just got lucky to predict all this stuff would happen at once. I think not.
7: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Ok people anyone go check yahoo.com Japan had an earthquake and the ice caps are melting due to global warming wich will cause sickness and death.
8: All these are the beginning of sorrows.
You guys can talk about these wars all you want but none of you can change it. Its meant to happen. The bible even told us for a long time now it was going to happen. Look around people, looks like were living in the end times.
Think about it man do you think God who made you and loves you and put you here on this earth to serve him and represent him want you to go join a group that shoots guns and kills people when said it turn they other cheek.
Dude I dont think god is even down for talking bad about someone. how do you think he feels about you his precious child going into the army so they can train you to kill people. Dont even think about it man. I think were living in the end times prey prey prey and ask god to put it into your heart.

Airborne isn't an individual specialty like "infantry", "armor", or "military police". It's an additional school to certify you to be deployable by parachute.
Military Police isn't all it's cracked up to be. I did that for three years, spent a lot of time as a gate guard, or doing convoy escorts. Some MP's are more or less like regular civilian patrol cops, for others, it's pretty boring duty.

Well, you should be proud of yourself wanting to serve your country. The choice as to what branch of the service you go into if its the army then " go army. "
The fact that people tell you, you will die, well I understand where they are coming from, but then you could die to-marrow, what ever the good Lord has planned for you will be in his hands. Just remember once your training in over in what ever branch of the service you go into, there is a saying we use in the PD. "STAY ALERT
Good luck and stay safe.
