I thought we were actually DATING in real life.
Because we talk on the phone, we text everything, ect.
We even sent letters to eachother by mail.
But the thing is... she just wrote "I haven't had a real life boyfriend for 2 years" and i'm pretty shocked to hear that..
Because all along for the past year and 5 months I thought we were actually dating. But i guess not which to hear that just now.. that sucks

uhh she might have meant that she hasn't had one in 2 years and she's glad she has one now.
and if not, just ask her out then, thats what she was hinting at!

Nowhere in there did you ever say that you went out on a date. I have NO IDEA why you two have talked on the phone so much and written so many letters, but IF you've never gone out on a regular basis, a lot of people would conclude that you aren't dating.
Without more details, that's the best that I can do.

okay, do you go places, visit with her and her family, see each other in real life? Is this a long distance 'relationship'?
Talking on the phone, texting, letters doesn't exactly constitute dating in my book. So why don't you just say real simple like, I thought I was your boyfriend, and take it from there.

to some people dating means going out together like to movies, dinner, bowling, camping, etc. kissing and stuff.
