Even though you're daughter is 9 years old and shortest in the class now does not mean that she will be when she's 14 or 15. Everyone grows at a different pace, that and, there's nothing wrong with being short. If it's what SHE wants, the see a doctor if you really feel that's the right thing to do. However, if it is what YOU want, let her grow on her own. So what if she's short, your height does not determine the kind of person you become.

I have 3 adult daughters who are 4'11", 4'10" and 4'8". I am 5' even. Sure, we wouldn't have minded being a little taller, but we're all fine. I have 2 above average in height grandkids- a boy and a girl, different daughters and dads- and 1 almost 5 yr old grandson who has trouble staying at 27 pounds and is about 36" tall- he's the perfect size for a 2 1/2 yr old! He's the cutest, sweetest thing ever with his little squeaky voice. We took him for several visits to an endocrinologist and he was tested for lots of things including dwarfism. He's fine, just very small and we have decided to let him grow however he is intended to grow- he'll probably only get to 5'2" or so. Don't worry- she's a girl, and tiny girls are cute- and have their choice of ALL the guys!!!

I would see my family practice physician first. They can order an x-ray of the wrist which can give an idea of how much more growing your little girl might do. He will probably want to send you to a pediatric endocrinologist if he thinks there is a problem. Girls do a lot of growing between 9 and 13 but you do need to know if she might be in precocious puberty which can in fact begin at 8 and leave her unnecessarily short. There are some other genetic problems that can cause unusual shortness and that may be worth looking at as well. You can't fight heredity though, if you have short people in your family, she may just be short.

I have a 10 year old daughter that is the same size as her 7 year old half sister. The girls had a grandfather that stood four foot 6 inches. I had the 10 year old tested to be sure she was growing right and the doc said she was just going to be small.
If there is no medical condition stunting your daughters growth, no doctor will give her growth hormones, which are risky to be administered anyway. kids grow at different rates, i am sure your daughter will be just fine the way she is.

See Endocrinologist. They are the right persons to analyse the harmonal responses. There are growth harmone response tests with a controlled stimulation (injection). You may have to keep your child in the hospital for couple of hours, because most of the children feel drowsy for some time, when it responds. They take blood smaples for the tests. There are ways for correction also. 9 years is the right age to understand the harmonal responses. If the doctor feels a correction is possible, try to postpone it till your daughter matures. Because, after puperty children's growth patern totally changes and in many cases, they correct the height by themselves.

So what if she's short. Is she healthy? If so, you may as well just chill, because there isn't a thing you can do about it. If you are so fixated on it, you're going to give her a complex. I'm sure she's beautiful just as she is! Instill confidence and she'll be fine. Look at Michael J. Fox...I think he's only 5'4", and he's had a pretty amazing success! Let it go mom!

What the-?
Doctor to make her taller at 9 years old?
okay never mind.
Don't worry about it, I was sooo short up until 7th grade, so like 10 or 11, then i sprouted and was taller than everyone. and grew more in high school.
So, don't worry about. let her continue to grow on her own, and when she is old enough let her decide if she wants a doctor. She may like her height.

there's really nothing you can do about that. eating and being real healthy is a way to help her grow but it takes time. im positive she'll be taller when she gets older but i doubt a doctor could give her anything to make her grow except a vitamin but we should takes thoughs everyday. if the kids in school tease tell her to just be sarcastic and say "yep im short and im proud" or "yep im short and your not so ha!"

Leave her be. Maybe short is what she's meant to be. Don't let her think you disaprove of her size. You'll give her body image issues. She'll grow at her own pace and there's nothing wrong with being little
