i get the impression they only register on word. i just posted a question on reviving Latin as a global language,at least for catholics. Every response was about the latin mass. i didn't say anything about any mass, latin or otherwise. This had happened beofre. It's like they just see one "key' word and extrapolate." Latin....Catholic...guess I'll say what i think about the latin mass..." Why answer a question you haven't read?

Egad,I must apologize for my horrendous spelling on the above. I'm used to spellcheck, which this PC doesn't have. Sorry about that.

Yeah,I answered your question on Latin and i noticed that too. Actually,a lot of people on r&s are media junkies and they use key words drawn from that. Last week the Pope was in the news and the term Latin Mass came up quite a bit in newspapers and i assume on tv. So you are right -people don't read questions closely - but i think it's more a matter of projecting instead of perceiving than it is sloppiness. And as to what is projected - well, the mass media.

I've noticed that with a lot of the questions I've asked too. It's like they don't bother to read the details or they just assume the details are included because the person felt like practicing their typing. It's insanely annoying.

But I do think it would be kind of cool to resurrect Latin as the global language... and I don't even know Latin.

Your spelling seemed OK, other than the capitalization errors. Have you tried iespell? It's a great, free, harmless spellchecker that hooks up to your toolbar when you download it. Link provided.

Regarding reading questions first - I guess they are too lazy. Regarding Latin as a global language for anyone - Yuk.

Ahhh your eluding to the difference between listening and hearing only in the written aspect of the issue.

Sometimes people read things and understand them differently then how you wrote them because of what is going on in their head at the time they read it.

They are answering accordingly and it may not make sense to you but if they took the time to give a lengthy answer they put thought into it so it is probably a misunderstanding or communication breakdown.

Either way, you ultimately get to choose which answer is the best so the ball is in your court.

If the question is lengthy, responders are likely to skim it and perhaps miss key details. As for your original question, it would make more sense to globalize a language which is already widely spoken. English is probably the closest to a global language that now exists.

i believe for most people this only conncetion with Latin is with the Catholic mass and that is their only conncetion. i mentioned in my asnwer to your previous question the asnwer to conversational latin and also my own minute experience within the mass. i think some people are just sharing what they know about Latin and the only thing IS the mass so thusly, they know no one with conversational skills.

Latin - Isn't that the language spoken in Latin-America (according to a vice-president of USA). If he can get it wrong I suppose people on YA! can too.
