why do people start new relationships when they're not really over their ex?
do they not realize it only hurts their new mate?

they try to start new relationships to get over their ex so they don't have to feel the pain anymore.
i don't think they do realize that.

they do this because they dont want to be alone. and it eases the pain of not being over their ex. most of the time is the woman that gets hurt in these situations cuz they cant help taking the feelings to the next level. if you feel he is still hung up on his ex then run away and do it quickly. it can only end badly for you. its not worth the risk. if its meant to be then he will get over her without you and then he will come find you when his head and heart are clear.

Rebound.. whether for men or women it really hurts.. when we're hurting all we can think of is revenge and moving on and starting a new life.. but sometimes we forget that we are also hurting people in the process.. other people who don't deserve to be treated like that.. And because of our bitterness and ego we will do anything just to be happy.. I'm not making any sense lol.. What I'm trying to say is don't fall in love unless you are ready and completely moved on.. that sounded better..lol

The main reason they do this is because they THINK it will help them get over it quicker - and 99% of the time, it doesn't...
I think a lot of these people hope that the whole "rush" of a new relationship will make them stop hurting - and it is this selfish attitude that ends up hurting the new person ;)

They do it because they don't want to feel like there alone and they are desperate for someone... i recently just did that and i broke it off because i did'nt want to really hurt her i'm still single and trying to get over my ex

it might be that they're trying to make their ex jealous or they feel so lonely so they try to hook up and just have fun instead of being sad.
