Why does it seem that guys not from North America, always have better manners. I have met 10 Mexican gents who are in there 19-22s. They ALWAYS opened doors, gave up their seat for anyone, offered drinks.. food everytime they have guests, always polite with no rude humour or swearing. Now that I noticed that. I was SUPRISED how they acted around females.
Im not saying guys in North America dont have manners, some did open doors for females, but walked in first and just held it lightly, etc. Why are the manners in males so different compared to different countries? Why cant some guys act more polite and more mannered?

I have never said anything sexist about a guy opening a door for me. Why do females have to be so... 'independent' when they're really not.

Maybe where you live they do have manners but I live in a place where the Mexican gents are not always so well mannered. As a married woman at the time, all they could do was stare at me and wonder if I was single or not. Most of the men from other countries are taught that the women are lesser than they are meaning the women have to submit to their men. It seems old school and medievil but in a lot of countries today the well mannered men who treat American women so well were brought up to be that way but sometimes they only do it because the women of the US are thought of as loose though a lot of us are not. It is hard to say though...sometimes you find a good few in the lot either way.

Well probably because those Mexican gents who are not well mannered are SINGLE ! See the real question is what does the fact that these ill mannered men still have dates and girlfriends say about the self esteem of the American women who date them? Why would a man give you more then you expect for yourself?

A lot of American men (such as myself) have gotten yelled at in public for opening a door to a car or the local mall for a girl... These are the whacko feminists who will yell stuff at us like "I'm a woman of the 90's and it is an F'n embarrassment for a guy to hold a door open for me...What do you think I am--an F'n handicapped?"....Twice this happened to me, and each time I realized that if I continued to date either of these women, that the relationship would be all about 'her' instead of 'us' so I finished up the date with her, and never saw her again after that.....Many American women do not appreciate a guy who was raised as an old fashioned gentleman....

The Women's Liberation Movement was a product of North American politics. It was in North America that women first began to challenge the domination of males in the workplace and in public forums. Many men resented this challenge and stopped offering special courtesy to females because of that resentment. That movement did not carry on in some other countries like Mexico and traditional behavior (chivalry)still exists.

You might not like this, but in North America more than any other part of the world, women want their "independence," a women can make a guy feel stupid sometimes when having manners, and we try to respect women here in the states that say they can do whatever a man can, and not to treat them differently than anyone else...

In these days of equality of rights, in politically correct North America, many women get upset, at a man holding a door, or exhibiting anything but equality of the sexes.

Well for one Mexico is in North America. But as far manners goes it just isn't really taught anymore at home like when I was a kid. I always open doors for ladies and elderly people.

No excuse for men, but feminism with all the in-your-face confrontation over EVERYTHING has fostered a LOT of resentment, a LOT of feelings of ... oh yeah, well Miss Equality, open your own ^%$# door then!
As I say, no excuse for men, but if women chill a little, stop all the equality crap, stop accusing us of sexism every 20 seconds, then I think that you'll see some better behavior on our parts.

Well the truth is some are just rude, its just that way. To counter your argument, think about how women are treated in the Middle East and other Arabian nations. The fact is some is cultural, and some is....well, just men's inability to be polite.

I know what you mean...
The more polite a guy is, the less interesting he seems to be to women...
go to a library and find your geekiest looking guy and I bet you he'll have the BEST manners...
haha but seriously he will...and less attractive people also tend to have good manners...idk why it goes like this but I noticed it does (in general...this is a generalization)
