My Maltipoo is about 1 year old. Yesterday she went to the vet an d was given all her yearly shots. The day before that she was groomed for the first time in a long time. Today I notice she keeps shaking her head and rubbing at her ears. When I looked in her ears I noticed they are full of a crumbly wax. She has never had this in her ears before and there is alot of it. Is she having some type of bad reaction to her dog shots or could she have an ear infection from the dog groomers? I have included a pic. Do I need to take her to the vet tonight? She seems spunky still she just keeps shaking her head and rubbing her ears. I can tell it is bothering her.

The link below will show you a pic I just took of her ear. Sorry I could not figure out how to put in into the post.

My dog gets ear infections from time to time, the one thing she does is shake her head(alot) and paw at her ears. I would take her to the vet, it could be either a yeast or a bacterial infection. I would take her as as soon you can cuz they say ear infections are very bothersome to them. Also whenever my dog gets an ear infection her ears are also warmer than usual. The vet will swab out the wax from the ear and give her an antibiotic shot. They will probably also send you home with an ear flush and antibiotic to give at home if it is an ear infection

I am a groomer and I see this problem a lot. When you don't groom a long haired dog on a regular basis, infections develop BENEATH the hair that grows in their ear canals. When the groomer pulls the hair out and cleans the ears, it brings all that gunk up to where you can see. It's not a reaction to the shots, and it wasn't CAUSED by the groomer- it was caused by lack of grooming. Those type of dogs HAVE to be groomed every 6-8 weeks, no excuses.

And yes, her ears are infected, and no, she doesn't need a vet tonight, just as soon as you can get there. It's not enough of an emergency to waste the $100 they'll charge you for an ER visit.

Well i have a similar problem with my beagle mix. I've taken her to the vet numerous of times. The first time they flushed her ears out. They did that because of where i live something called a foxtail could be in there. It wasn't nothing was. Always if you just moved somewhere or something carpet fibers may be caught in there. Since there was nothing in there the doctor simply said it was a reaction to something..something is irritating her ear and the only thing you really can do is get this medication that you put in there ear weekly to stop the itch. I've never heard of it reacting to shots but who knows. Also it probably smells a little mean it's damp inside. Take ur dog to the vet and have her ear flushed because it only gets worse by them scratching it.

I had the same problem last year with my two dogs (German shepherd/long-haired Chihuahua mix). We took them both to the vet and they prescribed a little tube of gel (can't remember the name of it, I'm sorry) but about twice a day, we'd have to rub the gel into the ear and gently massage it. Our vet said that it could have been caused by anything external, the problem is not necessarily internal, but it is triggered by an allergic reaction to something (usually in the environment). It will go away, but unfortunately with our dogs, it has come back once or twice. We just keep refilling the prescription for the gel. Once you apply, the head-shaking and ear-rubbing should subside. Hope it helps.

It's often impossible to diagnose an ear infection based solely on a picture. The only way to tell for sure is to go the vet and have them take a swab of the ear. There are two types of infection it could be (yeast or bacterial), so they will need to take a look and see which it is to properly treat it.

Sounds like an infection- our min-pin has that same prob. 1-2 yearly!! Buy this and put it in her ear or call the local vet and ask them what they would reccommend for the doggie- Our vet said this but it does take a few days to help her though!!! Adam's No-Mo ear infection treatment by the adams supply co. Should be avail. at the vet or local pet stores!!!

Well it looks like she may. These alot of junk in there. I bet they got some water in her ears while at the groomers. I'd give the vet a call and see what they say.
Did the groomer nick her ears or is that just ear wax coming out???

She absolutely has an ear infection. Get her to the vet immediately and he will give you some medicine to put in her ears. If you wait she could go deaf or possibly die from an infection.
