Now I have read that Jesus was of the "lineage of David". (Psalm 132: 11)
Now, according to Matthew 1:1-16, Joseph, Jesus' stepfather is of the lineage of David. Therefore Jesus was not related to David. I'm confused. Though I am not Christian I like studying all religions as best I can. Can someone explain how Jesus was a descendant of David if Joseph was, and was not biologically his father?

Adoption was a more serious mater in those days as I have been taught. In many cases there was even a ring with a seal so that the adopted son could make family decisions and mark the deal with the family insignia.
When I was adopted, my new Birth certificate had my new parents as parents. I think that is why Matthew regarded Joseph's lineage.

But please, do not turn a blind eye to the lineage of Mary. She too was from the line of David. It's just that it was unusual in those times to mark the lineage to Mary, the maternal side.

That's the first time I explained it that way. How'd I do?

The ancestrall lineages in Matthew cover both Mary and Josepth.

The ones prefaced by "as-supposed" refer to Joseph, the others, to Mary.

Mary's bloodline passes through the lines of BOTH David and Levi, and so Jesus is legitimately both king and priest.

You answer your guy or woman question in that first, long paragraph. The Jews could no longer reconcile prophecies of the Messiah coming as a suffering servant (inclusive of those modern-day in Isaiah fifty 3 and Psalm 22), with those that talk of him coming as a warrior king and lion of Judah. of course, his disciples did no longer get it the two, because of the fact they have been additionally Jews. Undoubtably, previously Christ got here on the scene, that they had in straightforward terms the non secular leaders, the Pharisees, to coach them approximately faith. yet, you could suitable have faith that, whilst they observed Jesus on the Transfiguration, after his resurrection, and as he ascended into heaven, they did have faith--lots so they went out and favourite church homes with this Gospel message all around the then favourite land. enable me ask you something: How is it which you're saying that Jesus did no longer do the flaws the prophets pronounced he could, whilst he became born the place they pronounced he could be born (Micah 5:2), born of a virgin, and fulfilled one among those good kind of different prophecies of info that he could no longer in all probability have orchestrated, inclusive of Isaiah fifty 3 and Psalm 22?

Mary was descended from Nathan who was David's son. Nathan was Solomon's brother who Joseph was descended from.
As man Jesus had no father. As Christ he had no mother.

True, but David was considered the King of Israel, while Jesus was considered King of the Jews...see the difference or the correlation? Or does it, like the rest of us, make you more confused?
