people are seeming to think im come kind of shallow person
completely wrong
i dream of meetin my soul mate
etcc etc i feel very alive thats the thign i have loadsa of people telling me im beatiful inside and out, not being big headed but 'the most beaitufl girl theyve ever met blah blah, my soul is beautiful blah' and its starting to confuse and scare me. i dont get it?!?!??! all our tastes and things are controlled by basically our memories
for example....as a babym u dont havce a taste in clothes, friends, music.................all these things are chosen for u, if u get me i duno then your tastes and personality evolve from them as u grow up.......................i unno does anyone understand wat i mean?!?!?!?!??!?!

id love to believe we have them but basically when babies are born aren't they basically animals?!?!?!?!??!?!? its jsut we train them to do things and believe there is a certain way to act, talk, dress, treat other people..................im ***** scared

Pretty cool huh. Fascinating how we evolved to have such a complicated system of neurons, to the extent that we can understand how we work (for the most part).

Sorry, it IS freaky, but true.
There is no relationship between the degree to which an idea is comforting and the degree to which it is true. See the guy below me for an example of how these concepts (comfort and truth) are typically confused.
I don't know what you mean specifically by "soul".

That fear of meaninglessness is exactly what drives people to seek religion. So perhaps you need some faith. Otherwise, the facts that we are just loads of chemicals and our life doesn't have meaning should take some of the pressure off of you. You can just lives your life however you want.

The mind works in conjunction with the brain as we are able, according to our health and conditions in life. You can learn to control your reactions to things with greater equanimity if you're healthy and wish to do so. We're not an "out of control mess" if all is functioning well.

I have something for you to think about. It is a test you can do on your self to see whether or not you are just a bag of chemicals. you have to ask questions and not appeal to anything material at all.
theres truths that exist out side of chemicals and mater that you can see if you think about them, it will show you you are more than chemicals. I will refer to one form of truths the laws of Logic.
Logic follows laws, for example you are you, and cannot be someone one else, while you are you at the same time. It is a universal truth that something can only be its self and not something else at the same time. If I where to ask you to show me this truth you could not, it only exists in you mind and mine, but you cant hold it. you can test it using your mind, that rock is that rock and not a cow, but the law is in your mind. If I remove your arms and legs you are still you in your mind right. you can still use the laws of logic and not less because less of you exists.
The fact that you use logic shows you live every day of your life relying on something that is not made of chemicals. your mind has the ability to use something immaterial to function. so just that is enough to show you that you are more than just material. So what else is there that is unaversial and not made of chemicals? Morals, Love, Evil, Soul.
What you have you mind caught up in is called empiricism, But in my example I have shown you that knowlage of your self is immaterial not just made up of chemicals. So empiricism is a farce.
Love your soul more than you Body, God does he gave you the ability to, using your heart and mind see your more than Chemicals.

You are you. Just be who you are and don't waste time obsessing over huge philosophical questions. Life has the meaning that you bring to it. Try and make it count for something.
