PS: they --->DO<--- grow back. he has such LONG whiskers now..

Old wives tale...cutting off the whiskers won't affect his balance. They grow back fine. We have to cut off whiskers when doing certain surgeries on cats faces. They're fine.

Hi. Yes it does make a huge difference. This definately throws off a cats sense of balance and being able to "feel his way in the dark"...it makes them insecure of people and their surroundings. Glad to hear they grew back & I'm sure you have learn tons by your mistake.

My cat accidentally got too close to a candle (the silly thing thought the candle was something to stick his face in for some reason) and singed off one side of whiskers.

He did get a fright, but we never noticed anything wrong.
So you most likely didn't do anything to damage your cat.

However, there's no reason to do it, so I don't recommend doing it again. :)

As with every experience in life, yes, it's possible that this could have modified what his personality would end up like. You can say that about anything in life though so I wouldn't worry about it.

They grow back, but it's really mean. In your case, though, you didn't realize. He probably had a bad couple of months, though.

Dont cut them, they do rely on them for many things, just as most animals rely on these receptors.
