Although ice doesn't have anything in it that would cause decay it certainly isn't a great idea. Your teeth are only meant to touch when you are chewing food and when they do they put an enormous amount of force on them. If your teeth have no fillings in them it probably isn't a big deal, but teeth with fillings (esp. large ones) are more likely to chip and break. I don't see why you wouldn't compare chewing ice to crunching on hard nuts or candy, they both aren't very yielding. Also, lots of crunching can cause irritation to the jaw muscles, sometimes leading to headaches. Hope this helps!

no, patients asked my doctor if this is bad before, it is not!! if you have sensitivity to cold it could be an annoyance to chew ice but thats it...it is impossible to chip teeth on ice(unless rocks are in it:))

no, i do it all the time. and you cant chip teeth.. its just frozen WATER..lol
