Yahoo news says the church has paid out $2B in sex settlements...I mean, the money has to come from somewhere.

Of course not. Catholic charity programs are very widespread and effective, and literally millions of dollars are spent every year to feed the poor, house the homeless, care for the elderly, build hospitals, and so forth. The money to fund such efforts largely comes from voluntary donations.

I don't think so. While a few priests have ruined the reputation of priests in general, there are still PLENTY of priests out there that aren't doing inappropriate stuff.
