These days every Joe Smith with a good salespitch is forming a church and calling themselves "Christian". Back in the 1800's several new religious groups sprouted up during the many revival movements that were happening back then. Darwinism was telling people that we all evolved and that the whites were the superior race. Some of the new religious groups used racism to attract the white slave owners.
Thats when the KKK sprang up. They claimed Christianity , yet practiced violent Racism.
If, over the years they slowly changed their ways to become more mainstream and attract new followers, they denounced racism and got a revelation to allow African Americans into the Priesthood, would you consider them to be Christian?
What if they changed their name to the Klan of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and told everyone to pray in the name of Jesus?
What if they said they believe the Bible as long as it was translated correctly?
That all sounds Christian to me. You think?

In response to you Mormon Lovers, why is it then that Brigham ordered that the African Americans could not EVER hold the Priesthood in this life. That order was not rescinded till Spencer Kimball did it 150 years later in 1978 as the result of public awareness of the civil rights movement !

The people were using Darwins book "The origin of the Species" to show that the human species evolved and since the Caucasians were the most advanced (industrially) we were somehow Superior. Therefore racism was OK.

Joseph Smith was a great advocate for the black people; in a time in which many of his fellow white countrymen owned black slaves, and in a time which almost all white Americans believed that "Negroes" were "inherently inferior" to white people. The Prophet Joseph Smith did not believe that Negroes were inherently "inferior" to whites. He said that they were the way they were only because the whites did not allow them to be educated. He said that if one "changed their situation" and educated them "they would be like" the whites. He advocated the freedom, education, and the granting of "equal rights" to blacks at a time when only a small minority of Abolitionists believed that blacks should be granted equal rights. When he was once asked what advice he would give to a man who came into the Church with 100 black slaves, the Prophet replied:
"I have advised them to bring their slaves into a free country and set them free~educate them~and give them equal rights." (Compilation on the ***** in Mormonism, p.40)
He also said:
"Break off the shackles of the poor black man and hire him to labor like other human beings." (History of The Church 5:209)
"While he was acting as mayor of the city, a colored man named Anthony was arrested for selling liquor on Sunday, contrary to law. He pleaded that the reason he had done so was that he might raise the money to purchase the liberty of a dear child held as a slave in a Southern State. He had been able to purchase the liberty of himself and his wife and now wished to bring his little child to their new home. Joseph said, 'I am sorry, Anthony, but the law must be observed and we will have to impose a fine.' The next day Brother Joseph presented Anthony with a fine horse, directing him to sell it, and use the money obtained for the purchase of the child." (Young Woman's Journal, p.538)

Rev. Kip turns out to contradict himself in 2 traces, without doubt been studying the well e-book too on the whole. LDS could declare to be Chistian, as do RC and Protestants - I have met individuals from these types of (and so forth) and haven't begun to fulfill a truly Christian. Christianity as a thought is an try to obtain the ultimate state of compassion for others - it depresses me to peer the riches of the Vatican whilst youngsters starve, or so-known as Christian leaders bomb blameless civilians within the core east - if those individuals real consider of their possess doctrine they'll most likely have a hot welcome within the afterlife. The best factor that I can say undoubtedly approximately an offshoot cult equivalent to LDS is ..... great go well with!

From what I understand about the Mormons and that's not a lot. They get their racial thing from the story of Noah, and his sons. Wasn't Ham the one that was cursed and he was the darkest of all Noah's sons? Well it has something to do with that, they feel that African Americans are cursed, just like Ham was. I'm not a Christian so I really don't think I can answer your question, I just thought you may want to know that about the Mormons and Noah.

It also doesn't sound a thing like my church.
There were other so-called "Christian" churches back in the 19th and early 20th centuries that were TRUE racist, like the Southern Baptists, and do NOT talk about how they apologized, because they shouldn't have had anything to apologize for, if they wre TRUE Christians.
We don't have anything to apologize for because we weren't racist. We attracted more slaves seeking freedom than we EVER did southern slave owners. In fact, that's one big reason the Mormons were kicked out of Missouri, even having a governor official order saying it was ok to take pot shots at Mormons. Hey, if you killed one, great! These guys even took point blank aim at small children, blew their brains out and then said "nits make lice", and these men were CHRISTIANS?? they probably thought they were!
Hey, gov, what happened to your profile?

If any man truly repents and turns away from evil deeds and asks the Lord into his heart, yes, they can be forgiven and considered a Christian. But, there has to be change in his heart, it can't be by his mouth only...A truly repentent man who's been given a new heart is a new man. Don't forget, we are all sinners, and none of us are good, not even one....

The Klu Klux Klan members are Christians. Where they are good ones depends on the individual, just like everyone else.

I see why you don't want Mormons to answer.
If I were trying to discredit the LDS Church by twisting facts and making false accusations I wouldn't want the truth to come out either.

Mormons are Christians. We believe in Christ. The name of our church is: 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'. Maybe someday people can stop being judge mental of other people's faith.
The KKK were racist, and it is God's job to judge, not ours.
THE NEW TESTAMENT (KJV)
-THE GENERAL EPISTLE OF JAMES
-CHAPTER 2
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
