hon im so sorry; the only reason i can think of why they denied you (and only b.c i went through the same thing) is since youre so young, they are taking your parents income? i couldnt apply for anything, until i moved out on my own. did you try explaining to them; yes you live at home, but you need to be responsible for your baby yourself, and dont want to rely on your parents? i did get wic while i was at home; my parents couldnt afford to buy formula and all (SO expensive!!) and we finally got approved for wic for myself and they baby. try talking to someone else in the offices; if you get denied medical assistance; you can always always appeal it; fill out for the appeal, and you get a face to face "hearing" (More of a meeting) and explain the situation better to them (ie you dont want to rely on your parents for everything; if you want to or it comes up the fact it wasnt a planned pregnancy) good luck to you!! and MAJOR kudos to you for being young and keeping the baby! im sure you are a terrific mom; showing your concern here as to how to get some assistance to help you when you need it.

*edit* i saw from your other question you were looking in PA; thats where i am too; ill put money on the fact you were turned down b/c they are taking youre parents income. email me if you need to; i dont want to put specific info relative to location out publicly. ill help you all i can; email me if you really want help finding info. :)

Have you actually applied for any of these benefits? There is no reason why you should be denied any assistance that is out there. No, you can't get a job, but they should pay for day care for your baby so that you can go to school. You have to continue your education so that when the time is right you will be able to get a job to take care of yourself and your baby. Ask your parents to help you get the assistance that you need. If your parents won't help, ask an adult that you trust to help you find out what you need to do. I'm so sorry that you were raped and ended up pregnant. That shouldn't happen to any girl. At your age, if your parents aren't willing to help you, you might want to consider adoption. It is a terrible thing when your life is basically so hard when you are so young. Good luck.

What does a rape pregnancy have to do with getting WIC, or anything else? And yes you can get WIC if you have a medical card or bring in 2 check stubs, you need your baby and all his birth info that you have available. You can get insurance, go and apply for a medical card. You have no reason to be denied unless you got lots of money coming in. Is that the case? Also, did you press charges?

I find it hard to believe you can not get WIC, and most states have some form of medicare for pregnant women no matter what age they are. As for a job I don't know about that - my friend had a baby at 15 but she had a good boyfriend who supported her.

WHY are you unable to get any of these services? It seems like you have been misinformed by someone. The only reason you would not be ablet o obtain services would be because you are over the income limits, which would be impossible for an unemployed 14 year old.

Consult your local Victims Advocate (offered through the police department). They will help you find the help you need. That is their job, to assist victims of crime.

Are your parents supporting you? Surely they are not ostracizing you for being raped. Get them to help you obtain the services you need.

Have you talked with your pastor? Your church is probably more than willing to assist you through this tragic time.

Have you consulted a local home for unwed mothers? They frequently offer housing, food, allow you to continue your education, and other assistance-at no cost to you. They also provide parenting courses for those who intend to raise their babies, and adoption counseling for those who intend to place their child for adoption.

A local Crisis Pregnancy Center is another resource that will help you-there are many of them, all over the country. I am certain you can find assistance at one of them.

Have you considered whether you are going to place the baby for adoption? In states, adopting parents are allowed to provide-through the agency-some of the living expenses for the birth mother.

Last but not least, your local Department of Social Services (or Family Services, or Children's Services-the name varies from place to place) is another option to turn to for help.

Because of your age you will not be able to get any services. Only your parents will be able to apply for these services and pending on the state you reside in and the family income, there may be no services that you can get. However there are somethings that you can do. Keep in mind because of your age your parents will need to assist you in this. Go to the Salvation Army and apply for assistance, you will be turned down, however keep that paperwork. Second, go to your local Trustee office and apply for assistance. Here you will provide them with the denial letter from the Salvation Army. Your chances for assistance will be better. I hope I can help. I wish you much with the child. Take care.
