well you can never be 100% ready if you wated till then noone would ever have children!!
do you both have good paying jobs with good insurence?
have your own home?
have a car?
have 3 months of savings?(enough money to cover 3 months of bills/expences)
then you are probobly ready!
don't for get to start a RESP and savings account for your child as soon as they are born.

You are never ready for kids, really, but I say take the plunge because you don't know if you'll ever be "ready" financially. You somehow just make it work. We didn't have much money at all and even lived with my parents when we had our first baby, but now two kids later, we are finally getting financially secure and we don't regret having not been when we got started because I didn't want to wait any longer (I was 30).

I don't think that anyone is financially secure. As long as you can pay your bills, and buy groceries, and still have a little money left over you would probably be fine.

well, you realy never are!!!
Find out what the cost of delivery is from your insurance. If you plan on returning to work find out the cost of daycare. Diapers, formula ect are not that bad, if you breast feed you will save even more. Remember, the money you typically spend on dinners out and going to the movies, concerts ect will probably go towards diapers for a while !!!

You will learn to adjust no matter what economic level you are at. We had kids when we were young and broke and had kids later when we were much better off. Only thing that really changed is the brands of the strollers and the how fancy of cribs we bought.

the total cost of a child from the time they're born to graduate from high school assuming normal middle class living expense such as sports and cheerleading for girls.. well the cost comes to a million bucks. but it doesn't mean you have to have saved that much to have one.
