he's 31 months old. he just started doing this recently. we're still working on potty training. he does it in the middle of night and when i get up in the morning his bed is all wet. i put him on the toilet right before he goes to bed. he doesn't do it every night, but at least 4 times a week.

he doesn't undo the tabs on the diapers, he just pulls them down. he can get out of the pull ups also.

If he won't be too hot in them, think about getting some pajamas that zip up, and put them on backwards, where he can't get to the zipper to get to the diaper. Otherwise, try pull-ups. They are harder to take off, since he can't just undo the tabs. I would only use the pullups at night though, since they are more expensive and don't really help with potty training. And for the potty training thing, use those thick cotton underwear, but with the plastic pants on top to protect his clothes and your furniture and carpet. But they help, because he can feel the wetness. Leave him in a wet pair of underwear for at least 10 minutes, so that he feels uncomfortable, then change him. You have to do this in combination with taking him to the bathroom regularly, whether he says he has to go or not, and rewarding him when he does go in the potty. If you do this, he should be potty trained before long.
P.S. I don't suggest using tape on his diaper. It shouldn't be necessary if you try the pull ups or the underwear over the diaper. I don't know, it just seems a little weird to me to tape my child's diaper on.

My son starting doing this recently, what I did with him is I slapped his butt and put them back on him and told him not to take off his diaper. It really worked!!! sounds harsh but it got the point across and he hasnt done it since. And he's only 18 mo. Also how is he training during the day. During the day put him in cotton underwear and he will train quicker in those then in pull-ups because kids think they are diapers too. Kids need to feel when they wet. Then just put him in the pull-ups on him at night. Explain to him that he has to learn to use the potty during the day before he can be in underwear at night. I thin he is ready to train though, let him guide you. Good luck.

Feeted pajamas are a good suggestion but its hot so I would say if your changing the sheets most of the time anyways make him wear underwear! He may not do it anymore because underwear feels alot different then a wet pull up or diaper! He may want to use the potty more often as well!

Duct Tape, underwear on top, diaper on backwards, vinyl sheet on bed under mattress,
Also try giving him less fluids near bedtime, and making him go to the potty before bed. Give him a reward if he doesn't take his diaper off during the night. Good luck

The best thing to do is to put some underwear on over his diaper. It helps with him taking off his diaper but then again it helps with the potty trainging too. I hope this helps

Find a larger size of Gro-suit and put him in that. I am talking about those things that have snaps down the front and between the legs. That should keep the nappy on. Or find/make those pajamas where the top buttons to the bottoms. If he can't get the pants off, he wont get the nappy off either.
Best of luck.

My son is 20 months and does it too! It drives me crazy, I tried putting a onesie on him and it didn't work, so I bought some boxer breifs and put them overtop so he can't get the daiper off. I think eventually he will get the potty thing down and maybe you should try real underwear, let him pick it out......Good Luck!
