How long after an interview should you wait before contacting/following up with the interviewer? I don't want to "bug" her, but I want her to keep me in mind...

What do I say when I call? How do I ask about the position and whether they have found anyone?

I would wait 1 week to 9 days.

The best way to follow up is to send a thank you note. During the interview, ask for a business card of the interviewer. The day after the interview, write a note thanking them for their time in interviewing you and express your interest again in the position along with how you benefit their organization.

Dh has been in recruiting for 17 years & has only received a small number (less than 10) thank you notes in that time. It will get you noticed.

I assume you're young. Have you been applying for other jobs while you're waiting? If not, you really should. Sometimes, employers don't contact applicants except for more interviews with them and/or to hire them. Unfortunately, it's very frustrating. I should know because I'm currently going through it. I'm middle-aged, so it's more tougher for me. You'll do well by keeping your name and resume out there for other employers to see. As for your question, if you really want your chosen job with that particular company, wait a few business days and then call the interviewer. It's your right to 'bug' her. Good luck!

Perseverance is the way to go! I would wait a day to let her have a chance to look over your resume and check your references. After that, let her have it. Call every two days. The best way to stay at the front of the line is to keep your name fresh in her mind. I would also write an email of thanks saying thanks for her time and consideration!
